You’re now back home from college, and many things have changed. One significant thing – your relationship status. You met an awesome guy at school, you guys immediately hit it off, and decided to make things official. Everything was going great until summer break interrupted. If you feel like your relationship is starting to die out over the summer, whether because of distance, busy schedules, or the desire for more freedom, don’t feel defeated. There are ways to achieve the relationship goal of making your long distance relationship last through the summer.
First and foremost, you want to make sure you both are on the same page. Do you both even want this to last over the summer? If so, then you’re on the right track to making it through. That means you both agree one another is worth giving up a summer of being single.
The best part of a relationship is the beginning, when everything is new and exciting. The summer provides the perfect opportunity to feel that again because when you return to school – it will almost feel like starting a new relationship!
There are some things you’re definitely going to miss about each other. He is going to miss touching your boobs just because he can, and you’re going to miss running your hands down his abs, among other things of course. That doesn’t mean you can’t still at least see them. Send sexy text messages, even nudes if you want. Or video chat and REALLY show each other what you’re missing, and what you both have. They’ll want to come running back to you.
This is probably what those sexy text messages will lead up to, because you just simple can’t resist it.
The key to making a long distance relationship last is by keeping things spontaneous. Send a cute surprise package to let them know that you are thinking of them, like his favorite candy, or a little gag gift you find that reminds you of him. Hey, even pack yourself up and give him a surprise visit.
You guys can plan a night each week that you have a video or phone chat. You can even do a virtual dinner date or watch a movie together via Skype. With technology these days, there are ways to get your fix, even if it doesn’t feel the same as being with them in person.
It might be super awkward at first, but if you have already had sex with this person, it’s going to be 10 times harder to be away from them and to not experience having any kind of sex with them. Try it out, and you may be surprised as to how it helps keep the spice alive in your long distance relationship. You can even go to the next level and do it via Skype or FaceTime.
If you are unable to see them for a while, make sure you communicate how much you miss them. Don’t be afraid to send a text whenever you see something that reminds you of them. It will let them know you are thinking of them even though you aren’t together all the time.
Live in the moment and enjoy what you have. Summer comes with a lot of free time, and that free time can lead to a lot of overthinking and over analyzing. Don’t let the distance inhibit the chances to make this a great relationship that lasts through the pressure distance puts on it.
You might feel like summer is your time to do what you want, but you have another person’s feelings that you’ve taken home with you. Remember that. If you don’t want to be in a long distance relationship with this person anymore, tell them. It’s not fair that they’re waiting for you, but you don’t have the same goals they do.
A long distance relationship can suck sometimes, but they can also be super sexy. When you see each other again, it won’t be long before your clothes have been ripped off of each other. You’ll thank us for these tips then.
