1. If you are passionate about something, write about it, there is somebody in the world who feels the same way
Let them know your opinion, contribute to the society of like-minded folks. Do you love reading? Maybe start posting your reviews! You’ll soon realise what a wonderful feeling it is when somebody reads a book because your review inspired them to!
2. If you need an outlet, create your space to write down your thoughts
You don’t need to use your real name to start a blog. Staying anonymous is extremely easy and if you don’t want your friends and family to know, they won’t be able to find it. It feels good to write down your feelings and trains of thoughts and even better knowing that somebody is on the other line, listening and maybe even replying. Having a blog can be really therapeutic.
3. If you think somebody might benefit from your knowledge and experiences, share them!
We all go through things and sometimes come across struggles which leave us believing we are the only one with these problems. However, there is always somebody who can give you advice. A good reason to start a blog is when you believe what you are going through might help somebody who is out there struggling. Believe me, reading a few of your posts might brighten another person’s day!
4. If you want to meet new people who have similar interests as you
Sharing what you love will definitely draw people with similar opinions in. And that can be the start of a beautiful friendship. With time you will definitely find yourself chatting with people all around the globe!
5. If you want to become a better writer, especially in your second language
Having the ability to write without major mistakes is important in most aspects of your life. And what better way to learn something than by practising it week by week whilst doing something you actually enjoy. It won’t take long after you start a blog, that you will see major improvements in your grammar and punctuation and you will probably need to start researching new words to spice up your posts even more. Practice makes perfect!
6. If you want to build web skills and gain experience to boost your CV
Half of our lives are online, so there might be jobs that will look for a good knowledge of technical skills surrounding the blogosphere and social media and the Internet in general. When sending your resumes out you definitely want to put something more than ‘the general use of Word and Excel’.
7. If you want to start a freelancing career and don’t know where to start
The world of freelances might be quite a scary place for any newbies. At the beginning one usually doesn’t have a portfolio or a nice and consistent way to display it, making it all look unprofessional. If that is your case then start a blog and create space that showcases who you are and what you can do. That way, anyone who wants to hire you will see exactly if you are a good fit for them!
