5 Reasons You Should Join A Sorority At Salem State University

Joining a sorority is a lifelong commitment, even though you will one day graduate college your experiences, memories and bonds will never fade. College can be tough to navigate so having a few people by your side to get you through it will make for a completely different experience. Joining a sorority at Salem State University was the best choice I made while in college. I made some lifelong friends who I’m sure will be my bridesmaids at my wedding. Some of my favorite memories are with my sisters. Here are 5 reasons why you should join a sorority at Salem State University.

1. You Will Meet The Greatest People

Movies and shows depict sorority women as selfish, incompetent people but I met some of the smartest and caring women I know while in my sorority. The women I met in my sorority all worked hard and tirelessly to achieve their goals, and they still continue to, all while being kind and genuine people. If you’re lucky and join a sorority at Salem State University during your freshman year you will get to know and build memories with every wonderful sister by the time you graduate.

2. You Will Never Be Alone

One of the great things about joining a sorority at Salem State University is that you’ll always have somewhere to go and someone to hangout with. Salem State University has a big population of commuter students and so, if you ever have a break in between your classes you can always message a sister and hangout in their dorm or take a walk. Also, all of your sisters are going through their own hard time and knowing that at least one of them is experiencing the same pain as you can you help you feel a little less lonely.

3. You’ll Have A Support System

On days when nothing is going your way and all you want to do is crawl back into bed your sisters will always be there for you. They will motivate you during exams, they will be there for you when you get your heart broken, and they will encourage you to be the best you can be. Your sisters are like your number 1 fans. They’re in the audience watching you perform in the school’s dance company and they’re there at your sporting events, even if they don’t exactly understand the sport.

4. You Will Get To Give Back To Your Community

If you’ve always wanted to give back to your community but didn’t know how to go about it joining a sorority is a great way to achieve this. You will find organizations to give back to and really see the impact that you are making. You might even discover a passion for philanthropy that will lead you to better opportunities. Having an organization that your sisters care about as much as you do can bring you closer together.

5. You Will Gain Leadership Experience

If you never had any leadership position while in high school college is the perfect time for that. Joining a sorority at Salem State University will provide you with opportunities to gain leadership experience as well as confidence in yourself. What makes it easy to run for a position is that your sisters see the potential, and ability in you even if you cannot and they encourage you to go for it. And if you’re having trouble in your position they are there to lend a helping hand. Your sisters will never let you fail.
