10 Reasons Why You Should Start Journaling

You may have heard of people journaling but are not quite sure what that means. Journaling can open up a whole new way of de-stressing yourself and staying organized. Journaling is something that is very personal and you can go about it in so many ways. This is a chance for you to let out some creativity and dive into the world of journaling! 

1. Reduce Stress

You might not know where to start when you first begin to journal. The possibilities are endless! You can always start by writing down how you are feeling that day. Keeping track of how you are feeling and what happened that day are important in staying mentally healthy. Writing down your thoughts and feeling is also a great way to relieve stress! Letting it all out in your journal can be the best way to overcome the problem or let your feelings out. Journaling is great for your mental health and can be therapeutic to many people. Remember, it is your story and your journal, so don’t be afraid to let it all out there even if it is something personal. You are the one reading this and it will help with your overall stress emotions.

2. Stay Organized

Journaling can be whatever you make it. If you tend to have a busy schedule, making a calendar in your journal can be just what you need. You can create a list of all the things you would like to accomplish in the day, even if you separate tasks to into parts of the day to make them more achievable. You can have a self-care routine list, work list, food list, workout list. Customize your schedule to anything you would like to get done that day. Having a daily plan listed out for you can make your mind feel more organized. You can even right down goals that you would like to achieve and how you will get to that point! Writing things like this down make it more real and achievable. 

3. Express Creativity

Designing your journal can be the best part about it! Bring out your inner artist and get creative with the setup. Using markers and colored pencils to add color and decorate each page is so much fun. Don’t just write out a list of things to do, make it fun and draw some pictures next to each thing. Doing this can make this a lot more enjoyable to do everyday. Pull out some sharpies and start journaling! Get as creative as you like and make it your own! 

4. Track Your Goals

We all have to start somewhere and writing doesn’t goals is the perfect way to keep track of your progress. Writing down your daily goals to even your life goals can be so beneficial. Seeing them written down on paper can motivate you to work towards them . You can keep track of your progress along the way and then see how you are achieving the goals. You will be more likely to work towards them if you are reminded of them everyday when you are looking through your journal. Start journaling now and you will see your goals becoming a reality!

Some days it’s hard to wake up and be super motivated. Journaling can significantly improve your overall motivation throughout the day! Journaling is so fun because you can personalize it to your liking. Writing down your favorite motivational quotes can really give you the desire to accomplish something. Waking up and reading quotes or sayings from your favorite influential people can change you outlook on the day. You will feel more motivated to accomplish your goals and get things done.

Telling people your most personal emotions and concerns can be really intimidating. Sometimes you don’t have someone you trust with your feelings and thoughts. Writing down your deep, personal thoughts in your journal can create a whole new place to relieve these feelings. If your write down your feelings you do not need to share this with anyone else. This is your own journal that will stay with you. Reading over your thoughts can also provide a solution to your problems. Your journal can capture so many great memories in it. In a few years when you look back at the journal you will be able to see what you were feeling and doing during those days. It can be a great way to relive memories or see how far you have come in your goals. It will be so cool to see the progress you have made from when you started!

Somedays when you have a busy schedule you can forget about the most important things in your life. Writing down what you are thankful for everyday can be the best thing to do. If you take a few minutes out of your morning to write a few things down it can improve your happiness throughout the day. Writing down the people you are thankful for or even the things you have that you are thankful for can make you think of them more during the day. If you start journaling these things, then you will not forget ll of the important things that make you happy everyday. 

9. Improve Your Writing Skills

You may not think it, but writing in your journal can improve your writing skills. If you try to use a new word everyday this can improve your vocabulary. You will notice that your sentence structures and punctuation will improve after writing constantly everyday. This is a great was to practice! Becoming a good writer requires a lot of practice and this is what you will get. Even if you do not consider yourself to be a great writer, you can always improve!

10. Feel Empowered

Journaling can be super empowering. If you are going though a hard time or have a dilemma writing it down can give you a new perspective on the situation. Reading over a situation you are struggling with can open up a new way of thinking. Since you are now reading your own scenario, you can come up with solutions to this problem. Overcoming situations like this can be so empowering. Writing down daily goals, thoughts, and plans will empower you to get them done and achieve your goals. Set small goals for yourself a day and get them done.
