College is a time when you should try new things and be a part of something. What better way to be a part of something than to join the women’s rugby team at Hofstra University?!
Some people may say soccer or basketball or field hockey or lacrosse or so on, is the route to take when playing a sport in college. As much as these sports are awesome too, no one mentions Rugby. Rugby is a fun and hardcore sport that is totally RECOMMENDED to join. You HAVE to join the women’s rugby team at Hofstra University.
The best part about coming to practice on a day you just don’t feel like doing anything, is that your team is able to see that and they motivate you! Even on “non-practice” days, your teammates are always there to motivate you and keep you going.
There’s no certain “guidelines” to play rugby other than be the best YOU can be and NEVER GIVE UP. Everyone is welcomed, and everyone is accepted.
I can’t tell you how many times people say, “you play rugby? Wow!” It looks wicked awesome on your resume and really sticks out! Many employers want to see DIVERSITY on your resume!
You need help studying, or just need a friend to talk to, you have a family on and off the rugby pitch. You can count on us.
There’s no such thing as quitting on the rugby field. If you feel like you’re not good enough and you are embarrassed, tell someone because I can assure you that they will assure you that you have this and you’re going to get it!
There are several positions and everyone is needed, wanted and good enough. Never look down on yourself because after all, practice makes perfect!
You’re not only on the field, but also off the field a family. Some nights consist of just sitting around and talking, going to movies, carving pumpkins, going to scary houses and even doing karaoke too! The women’s rugby team at Hofstra is family.
On the field, during the game, you look at the opposing team as your enemy, but after the game ends, you might sometimes catch yourself conversing with these individuals. Sometimes even Ivy League students, which can be interesting and most of all, you make even more connections!
As I have elaborated throughout the whole article, the HUWRFC is your family. They believe in you and instill confidence in you. Join the women’s rugby team at Hofstra!
