10 Reasons Why You Need To Get A Pedicure Today

Pedicures are a great way to treat yourself, and most of us don’t get them often enough! Or, many people get them frequently during the summer months, but forget about them during the colder winter months when their feet aren’t exposed. Here are some reasons why you should get a pedicure today!

Relaxation

What have you been stressing about? Work? Family? School? No matter what it is, the time spent getting a pedicure will be time away from those stressers. While getting a pedicure, you are guaranteed to be relaxed the whole time. From the soothing music that most nail salons play, to the hot towels they lay on your legs, to the foot massages, there are so many different relaxing aspects to a good pedicure. Time dedicated purely to relaxing is the best way to make sure you don’t get distracted with other things that will bring you back to stress, and a pedicure is a great way to ensure you are focused on just your relaxation.

A break from responsibilities

This reason is similar to relaxation, but also think of getting a pedicure as one less thing you have to do! Maybe you’re going out for a nice dinner soon and wanted to have nice looking toes in that pair of open-toed shoes. Well now prepping and painting your toes will be one less thing that you have to worry about! Go to your local nail salon, pick out the perfect color for your toes, and the manicurist will paint them nice and pretty, and even pamper you in the process!

Time with a friend/family member

Getting a pedicure with a friend or family member is a great way to spend some time together. It’s a great way for you to catch up, gossip, discuss whatever it may be, while you are both getting pampered! Some nail places offer things like champagne and wine while you get your toes painted, so this could be a great way for you to just sit back, relax, and enjoy your time with someone else!

Foot care

Getting pedicures are a great way to keep your feet in great shape. Not only do pedicures involve you getting your toes painted, but they also do things like get rid of dead skin, exfoliate, cut your cuticles, prevent ingrown nails, so many healthy things! Sure you don’t need to do all these things weekly, but it’s important that you are keeping on top of these things to keep your feet healthy and in their best shape. If you fall behind in these foot care routines, it may start to show in your feet, and a simple toe polish painting won’t cover it up!

Confidence booster

Getting your toes painted and some well-needed pampering is a great way to give yourself a little confidence booster. By feeling rejuvenated from all the services a pedicure offers, you are guaranteed to have an added pep in your step when you leave.

Cute toe color!

There is nothing more satisfying than seeing the full wall of polish colors at the salon. They usually have almost every color you could ever want! Picking out a color can be stressful, especially if you don’t get pedicures often, because you are paying for it and you want something you will enjoy! I don’t get pedicures often, so when I do, I try and get a color that I don’t own back at home, so it’s a fun opportunity for me to try something out that I don’t already have and can’t do myself at home.

Promotes circulation

Most pedicures involve a massage on your feet and lower legs. This is great for your circulation. If you’re someone whose foot and legs fall asleep and get that tingly feeling all the time, this is great for you! This circulation of blood flow around your body keeps your body evenly warm, and can also prevent things like pain, arthritis, and varicose veins.

Moisturizes

The lotion and cleansing that pedicures do is great for moisturizing your feet! They typically start with cleansing in the warm bath bowl below you, which feels great because it’s like a little hot tub for your feet! They typically will exfoliate (more on that later) and then follow that up with lotion on your feet and lower legs. Some places will seal in that moisture for a few minutes with a hot towel, which is such a relaxing feeling. Some places will also rub your legs and feet with rocks that have been warmed up. This took me by surprise the first time I felt it, but it truly feels so great, the smoothness of the rock combined with the heat. The way they pair all of these techniques helps to lock in moisture in your legs and feet.

Exfoliates

Part of the pedicure process also includes an exfoliation. This is great for getting all the dead skin off of your feet that we may not normally think of. There are also things on your feet that they will pay attention to, like cuticles, hangnails, in-grown nails, etc. Your manicurist will be sure to take those things into consideration and take care of things that need to be.

You deserve it

Above all the other reasons, you deserve a pedicure! Everyone deserves some pampering every once in a while. A pedicure is a great way to celebrate some small things in your life. Or, even if there isn’t much to be celebrated, it’s a way to get away from your responsibilities and de-stress for a while! It’s also one less thing that you will have to do yourself, and you’ll be given a little confidence booster when it’s over! Take the time for some relaxation for yourself, or to relax with a friend, and pamper yourself! You deserve it!
