10 Reasons Why Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin Should NOT Be Getting Engaged
In 2009, Justin Bieber skyrocketed to fame with the release of his hit single “One Less Lonely Girl” that was soon followed by “Baby” featuring Usher. Since then he has released top charter after top charter, from “Boyfriend” to “Friends” to the incomparable “What Do You Mean”? The Biebs has attracted much attention for his music for nearly the past decade, and almost as much attention for his roller coaster love life. I am not a relationship counselor, but it doesn’t take one to know that this is not the time for Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin to be getting engaged. And I am not being selfish when I say this: I am thinking only of Justin, as always.
Some people are happy, others mad and many are just downright confused. Regardless of where you stand, here are ten reasons that Hailey Baldwin, should in fact, not be Bieber’s one less lonely girl.
1. His 2016 GQ Interview
Weirdly enough in this interview, Bieber hinted at the fact that he someday might actually marry Baldwin, but at the same time he would not say she was his girlfriend – can someone say red flag? He told GQ writer Caity Weaver that Baldwin was someone he loved and cared a lot about, but would not say they were truly dating (source). This is a big reason why Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin should not get married.
2. Their Dating History
Bieber and Baldwin first met in 2009 and then dated in 2015 and 2016. They broke up in 2017, but got back together in early 2018. Being broken up for a full year in between getting engaged seems like they don’t have the strongest framework for the married life based on their on again-off again relationship in the past (source).
3. Their Dating History With Other People
HELLO Selena Gomez. That is the tiny elephant in the room. Is he over her? Not likely. Is she over him? Not likely again. And it is rumored that Baldwin might have been dating Shawn Mendes during this time. There are exes everywhere. Needless to say having interest in other people immediately after breaking up does not bode well for their future together (source).
4. Baldwin is Bieber’s Ex
Has it ever worked out for anyone to break up and get back together with their ex? Much less get married to them!? Can your fallback plan ever make a good life partner? If you know of such a situation working out, let me know. But it seems like if the two can’t have a stable dating relationship, how can they have a stable marriage?
5. His History With Selena
Yes, I said it again. Starting from about 2010 there were rumors regarding their romance which didn’t cease to circulate until his recent engagement. Their obsessive and large fan bases created the hashtag #Jelena which can now officially be put to rest, but not really. Listen to “Wolves” and then tell me it’s over for those two.
6. Gomez’s Songs About Bieber
2011 to 2013 were very rocky years for the young couple. Rumors swirled regarding Bieber being the father of a fan’s child and also that he was romantically involved with Victoria’s Secret model, Barbara Palvin, and the couple split for the first time. However, not long after at the 2014 American Music Awards Gomez sang “The Heart Wants What It Wants” and she later confirmed that it was about Bieber (source). The whip lash and drama continues…
7. And Vice Versa
In 2015, after the many trials and tribulations their young romance faced (though the bumps in the road would not end yet), Bieber went on the Ellen Degeneres Show and discussed his most recent album Purpose. He confirmed with Ellen that “What Do You Mean?,” “Mark My Words,” and “Sorry” were all Selena-inspired (source). Ahh, young love.
8. They are Rushing into Things
It didn’t take long for JB to propose after he and Hailey got back together in 2018… in fact sources say it only took a month. It’s called rebounding and it’s not the basis of an engagement. Though they do have a history, it seems a little fast to pop the question, especially after breaking up, dating other people, then only being together again for a month.
9. Marriage is not partying in the Bahamas
No offense, but I saw the videos of the recent trip where the engagement took place, and that was a drunkfest, not the beginning of a legal relationship where you perhaps start filing tax returns together. Justin looks like a man who is not in the mood to settle down yet based off his Bahamas soirée. He has a few more good party years left and that is not the basis of a solid engagement.
10. Think of your fans, JB
We like Tattoo Justin. Bad boy Justin. Drunk and disorderly Justin. Lonely Justin. Jetset Justin. Rock and Roll Justin. Rap Justin. Entourage Justin. Limo Justin. Mr. Hailey Baldwin Justin? Not so much. That’s why Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin shouldn’t be getting married.
