5 Reasons Why I Chose To Go To Penn State University

College is where you are going to make lifelong friends, prepare for the rest of your life and call home for the next four years. While there are so many reasons why I chose to go to Penn State University,  here are the top five reasons why I now call PSU home:

1. You are a part of the family.

From the moment you step on campus you are engulfed in a sea of people; many of which are sporting white and blue or some other form of Nittany Lion gear. I even picked up really quickly that every time you see a campus tour parading by to scream, “WE ARE PENN STATE” as loud as you can. No other school has such a great amount of pride, and why shouldn’t we?

2. Greek Life

Penn State is a huge campus made up of so many different students with different interests. College is a great time to find where you fit in and something that can aid in that is joining a sorority. No matter what sorority you end up in, you’ll find sisterhood as well as a chance to shine as a leader within a sorority.

3. The campus

You may not be looking forward to the long walks from your dorm to your classes, but if you take a second to look around, you’ll learn to appreciate everything University Park has to offer. Many students enjoy the sunset as it goes down behind Old Main, games at Beaver Stadium and the bustling town of State College, featuring an array of coffee shops, restaurants and bars.

4. Athletics

Penn State has 31 NCAA Division 1 teams at University Park and unmatched pride. Beaver stadium is even rated the best college football stadium according to a recent USA Today poll, and on game day, you’ll see why.  Plus, there are ways for anyone to get involved in any sport you want. You can compete against other colleges and universities through the Club Sports program for almost any sport you can think of. In addition, friendly competition takes place in intramural sports which happen year round and are a ton of fun for you and your friends.

5. Academics

Despite the party school stigma, Penn State does a great job of preparing their students for life after college. With truly passionate professors (go to office hours whenever you can) and opportunities to get additional help on anything you aren’t understanding, it is clear that graduating from Penn State you will be well prepared for life ahead.
