A year ago today, I found out something that would change my life forever – an acceptance letter to James Madison University. It is crazy to look at how much I have grown since my senior year of high school in only a semester at the best university! I am here to tell you about the best “yes” I submitted shortly after hearing the news of my acceptance.
Ever since I was little, I grew up in a household that bled purple and gold. My dad graduated from the James Madison University College of Business, class of ’90. Let me tell you, my father is the biggest fan of the Dukes! You will catch him hanging with his fellow Kappa Sigma Alumni tailgating all of the football games. I love how I get to continue the legacy of my goofy father by attending the best school in the nation. Hopefully, I can make my mark on Madison like he did. Roll Dukes!
My absolute favorite part of James Madison University is the community. Not only are the people here excellent door-holders, but they are always open to help someone on campus when needed. The students, professors, and staff all genuinely care about each other and make it a friendly campus. I firmly believe that if you decide James Madison University, you automatically have 21,227 undergrads who always got your back.
If you know me, a nice gym is always a priority. I am an avid fitness enthusiast, so you will probably catch me there if you are ever working out to get that toned summer bod. I don’t know what could be a more accurate description of my love at first sight than the view of the most AMAZING gym I have ever stepped foot in.
This video… Wow, I’m obsessed with UREC.
With my mom being my best friend, I needed to be close to home. An hour and forty-five-minute drive is easy to manage if you ever are feeling homesick. Last semester, I would pretty much go home every other weekend to see my family. Also, you will always be able to find a ride home on the JMU Rides facebook group (no matter where you live). Home is where the heart is my people!
Shout out to all my mountain mamas! If you love mountains as much as I do, you will fall in love with the campus. Hiking is one of my favorite activities, and down here you get a lot of trails to choose from. The location of James Madison University is perfect for outdoorsy personalities; however, if you aren’t the type to love the mountains, the view is extraordinary enough for you to love it.
Hope you make the best “yes” future Dukes!
