Reasons Why Friends Is The Best Show To Watch ANYTIME

Everyone has a show they love. One where no matter what is going on in their life, whether you had a long day at work, you had a fight with your girlfriend or boyfriend, the deli messed up your lunch order, or the fact that your family is coming over for the holidays and you still have not cleaned up your place, yet, it never fails to lift you up. Life can bring you down, but that is why you watch that show you love. The show, Friends, is my favorite show. Not only that, but it is the BEST SHOW of all time. There is no right or wrong time to watch Friends. You just have to sit and watch it. Don’t believe me? Here is a list of all the reasons why Friends is the best show.

1. Romance

No show or movie is complete without some romance. Whether it is on the side or the center of attention. In Friends, there are plenty of romances and couples that take place throughout the ten-season series. There is the main one, Ross and Rachel, the lesbians, Carol and Susan, the constant side romances with Joey and some hot chick, Janice and Chandler, Monica and Richard, Rachel and Tag, Monica and Chandler, Phoebe and the weird, attractive men she always seems to catch the eye of (including a cop, a teacher, and a fireman), Joey and Rachel, Janice (you see a lot of Janice), and one of my favorites, Phoebe and Mike. You can never have too many couples to ship or new faces to introduce.

2. Roommates

When it comes to living with your best friend, Friends is by far the best show to watch. Not only does it include what I previously stated, but it also includes what it is like to live with a roommate. There are days when your roommate will make you the happiest you’ve ever been, and there are days where you will just want to kick them out and never seem them again. Especially if your roommate is Monica and you didn’t organize the kitchenware as she does. While maintaining the love-hate relationship, which you undoubtedly will, when you come home, seeing your roommate will always be the highlight of your day and/or night. Roommates, as you will learn in Friends, make the best of friends you could ever ask for.

3. Heartaches

Whenever there is romance involved, there will always be a heartache that follows it. Maybe not right away, but it is bound to happen. Since there is plenty of romance incorporated in the show, Friends, there are plenty of heartaches. Not just for the couples, but also for some friendships. Like the episode of The One Where Joey Moves Out. During that episode, Joey moves out of the apartment and into his own place. Throughout this episode, you will see both Chandler and Joey go through a heartache. One that only best friends experience, and could ever understand. Luckily, in the end, of the episode, Joey moves back into the apartment. Thank you, crazy Eddie, for being the problem that would ultimately bring our two favorite roommates back together!

4. Finding Yourself

Throughout the series of Friends, every character experiences a realization of who or what they want to be and do, in their life. In the first episode, Rachel Green, the bride who ran away from her rich soon-to-be-husband on their wedding day, thoroughly explains
it best while talking to her father on the phone. “Come on, Daddy, listen to me. It’s like all of my life everyone has always told me, ‘You’re a shoe, you’re a shoe, you’re a shoe, you’re a shoe.’ And then today I just stopped and I said, ‘What if I don’t want to be a shoe? What if I want to be a purse, you know? Or, a hat?'”

5. Siblings

Siblings are without a doubt the hardest people to love. Both on and off-screen. Monica and Ross are no exception. In Friends, you will witness both the sibling rivalry and love that Monica and Ross share. Whether it is not letting go of the football after the Thanksgiving game is over, insulting each other whenever the opportunity comes along or performing a middle school routine together, as a ploy to gain the spotlight on the taping of a television show.

6. Humor

What is a good show without some humor? Luckily in Friends, humor spills out of every episode. Whether it is one of Chandler’s sarcastic comments or jokes, which never fail to not be laughed at, one of Rachel’s or Joey’s blonde moments (we all have them too), or Phoebe making a smart comment to Ross, since he needs everyone to believe in evolution. Friends never fail to make their audience laugh. Just watch one episode. I promise you will not be disappointed.

7. Holidays

When the holidays come around, on Friends, there is always something dramatic happening. Whether it is an Armadillo talking about Hanukkah to
a 6-year-old Ben, a 20-lb turkey being worn on someone’s head, or Superman making appearing at the door on Christmas Eve. There is always something going on.

8. Struggle Of Being An Adult

Transitioning from a young adult to an actual adult, paying bills and getting a job, is no easy shift. Especially after you just graduated from college. Rachel Green soon figures this out when she realizes she can no longer rely on her rich daddy to pay for her bills, shopping sprees, and credit cards anymore. If you ever feel like you cannot do it. That you
don’t have what it takes to become an adult, just watch Friends. If Rachel can do it, so can you!

9. Serious Topics

While the series incorporates humor, romance, heartache, and bits of life lessons, it also incorporates serious topics into its episodes. Such topics include same-sex marriages, divorce, feminism, being a single mom, adoption, being a surrogate mother, and being in a relationship with someone who is exceptionally older and/or younger than you. Yeah. This show was way ahead of its time.

10. Friendships

Friendships are one of the key essences of getting through this journey we all call life. As Phoebe Buffay once said, “Boyfriends and girlfriends come and go, but this is for life.” Friends are there to pick you up when you are down. They are the ones you call when you are having a bad day, you got dumped, you are in pain, and when you are lonely. They’ll be there for you when the rain starts to pour! They’ll be there for you like they’ve be been there before! They’ll be there for you because you’re there for them too! Okay. I am done.

11. Real Life

Friends is such a relatable show. No matter where you are at in life, or where you have been or want to go, Friends is always there for you. The show helps you grow and understand that life is hard. It always has been and it always will be, but when you have friends, like in Friends, then there is nothing you cannot do. You are all on this journey, together. Live it. Experience it. Make memories with it. If there is one thing Friends has taught me, it is that the real world sucks but you are going to love it.
