At some point in our lives, we have all tried dieting. Maybe we wanted to fit into a certain dress or just wanted to be a healthy weight. Whatever the reason, dieting can be really hard sometimes and it may feel like it’s difficult to figure out where to start. With all different types of diets and food that people say you should be eating, it can be easy to fail the first few times you try. One thing I have learned from dieting is that you can rarely go wrong when you are eating in moderation. Don’t believe me? Here are 5 reasons why eating in moderation works wonders.
I don’t know about you, but to me, metabolism seems to sound like the enemy when it comes to weight control. We feel unlucky if we weren’t blessed with a fast metabolism like some people are because it means that our bodies take longer breaking down and processing food. Hence the result of fat being stored when it can’t be processed quick enough.
The thing is, when we eat too much food at once and then don’t eat again for hours, we’re not helping ourselves. The metabolism needs to be constantly working with an average portion of food so it can get used to processing bigger amounts quicker on the days we do go a little overboard.
By eating in moderation throughout the day you are training it to always be working, thus resulting in fewer opportunities for unwanted fat being stored.
When we are eating in moderation, we are more likely to be providing us with the number of calories that we need to either lose weight or maintain our current one. It is less likely that you will overdo it on calorie intake and gain weight. When we are eating in moderation we are watching what we eat.
Believe it or not, carbs are good for us. They give us the energy we need throughout the day and that is why they are ideal to eat in the morning. Eating in moderation by having a couple of slices of toast with your eggs is a good way to start the day. Then again at lunch with a sandwich to keep the energy boost going.
By doing so, you’re not giving the body a chance to store unwanted fat from too many carbs in the body but you are still reaping the benefits of not feeling tiresome throughout the day.
By eating in moderation throughout the day, you are also feeding yourself just enough to feel content. Sometimes we lose control and eat the whole box of mac and cheese instead of only an average portion. But I am telling you nothing feels as good as feeling satisfied after a meal. Eating in moderation provides you with the advantage of not being hungry or stuffed. Then hours later when it is time for your next meal is when you’ll start to feel hungry again and that is the goal to aim for. To eat when you are hungry during appropriate meal times.
Eventually, your body will get used to the routine of eating in moderation and you won’t have to worry about binge eating a meal. You’ll realize that you are in control of how much you eat and when someone asks if you’d like a second helping of alfredo pasta you will happily decline, satisfied.
