The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 2 is set to debut on Netflix April 5th, almost a month away! For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about, it’s Netflix’s modern, dark spin on the old Sabrina the Teenage Witch comics. You may have also heard of the 90’s T.V. show of the same name as the comics.
If you’re a Riverdale fan, this show also takes place in the same universe as Riverdale only being a town over. This makes sense since the Sabrina the Teenage Witch comics is an extension of the Archie comics, which Riverdale is based on.
With all the crazy, edge of your seat events that happened in season one, the anticipation for season two is killer! If you feel you need some convincing, here are 5 reasons to watch The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 2. *Warning: Contains Spoilers!*
One of the plotlines of season one was that Sabrina refused to sign her name in The Book Of The Beast, a.k.a. surrendering her soul to the dark lord Satan himself, and giving up her mortal life completely. In the last episode, she was of course put in a predicament where she needed to save her town and banish ghosts of old witches, so she was convinced to finally sign her name, thus giving her the power to raise hellfire and save the day.
I think this means she is finally a full witch now? I mean, she does have a whole new dark, bad girl look. In season two, we’ll finally get to see how different her life is now that she has signed her name to the Dark Lord. Just a hunch, even though her name is signed over to him, I don’t think Sabrina has given up the fight with the Dark Lord just yet.
Besides, we still need to see who is going to play his character. We got to see his appearance to Aunt Zelda in one of her nightmares in the sleep demon episode. But his actual appearance in the show, when revealed to us, may not be the same since he was just a different form of Father Blackwood.
All of season one of The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, her two close friends, Susie Putnam and Rosalind Walker, had no idea that their good friend was a teenage witch. And neither did her then-boyfriend, Harvey Kinkle. Although there were some close calls and suspicions, by the end of the season they all knew her secret.
Of course, it wasn’t all taken lightly by everyone, hence the ending of Sabrina and Harvey’s relationship. That’s where season one left us off, so now…where does it go from here? Susie and Rosalind seemed pretty accepting of the fact, so will they now be included in her adventures especially since they both have some magically family history of their own?
What about Harvey?? The Christmas special that premiered almost two months after season one showed us a peep into what the future holds for him. He seemed like he was accepting the fact that she is a witch, but uncomfortable with the thought of being a part of her life with magic. Hopefully, that will change because you can’t deny it, they were pretty cute together.
Remember when Sabrina’s Aunt Zelda was the midwife for Lady Blackwood, who died during childbirth to twins, but Zelda lied to Father Blackwood that one twin ate the other and he only had a son, but in reality Zelda stole the real firstborn that was a girl that Father Blackwood didn’t want to be born first, and decided to raise it as her own? Yeah, kind of hard to forget.
Baby Leticia could practically be considered Sabrina’s new little cousin. Besides the fact that she is adorable and melts Aunt Zelda’s heart, what is going to become of her? In a perfect world, Zelda will completely get away with the fact that she stole Father Blackwood’s child, raise Leticia as her own, and be one big happy family.
Something tells me that won’t be the case for too long; this is a supernatural, teen, fantasy, drama genre after all! Needless to say, the reveal of who Leticia really is to those who shouldn’t know should be interesting.
Prudence, Agatha, and Dorcas, the three witch sister orphans that you find yourself hating one minute and loving the next. Needless to say, these three sisters are a major part of the series, always causing trouble for Sabrina, but helping her out when she needs it and when it benefits them.
Between their badassness and killer style, how could you not like them? We need to see more of them in season two PUH-LEASE.
As I stated before, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina lives in the same universe as Riverdale, which airs on The CW. Originally, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was supposed to premiere on The CW alongside Riverdale, but was moved to Netflix instead.
I don’t know about you, but I am a sucker for cross overs. It’s so cool when you see your favorite characters on another show, or when one show mentions facts about the other. That’s what happened between Riverdale and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. If you listen carefully in Sabrina, a few characters mention the town Riverdale a couple of times throughout season one. In Riverdale, they mention Greendale, the town Sabrina lives in.
Also, there is a character, Ben Button, who appears in both shows as the same person, but meets two different deadly fates. Now that is a whole different story with speculation of fan theories revolving around him.
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the series developer for both shows, mentioned that he would “hate [for a cross-over] to never happen”. So fingers crossed, maybe our favorite characters from Riverdale will make an appearance in season two!
