There are so many reasons to apply to the Northeastern study abroad program. Not only does Northeastern make it easy to do so, but you have absolutely nothing to lose! If you are even a little bit interested in learning more about the Northeastern study abroad program, definitely keep reading, because we have ten reasons as to why you should!
It doesn’t matter what kind of study abroad program you are looking for. Northeastern University offers so many different options to get out of Boston, and here are a few:
Take two months and head out on an adventure that has already been planned for you while taking classes that liven up the experience. If you’re not a do-it-yourself kind of person, this trip is for you.
Kind of like a dialogue but with less structure and probably more homework?
Immerse yourself in a different college experience and keep up with your credits in the meanwhile.
Yes, you can 9-5 it in Boston, but can you thrive in the different work cultures? I hear Spain has siestas? Vamonos.
Why do anything unless it’s trending on Twitter? That’s my motto. Travelling is very much all the rave nowadays and it’s even easier now with resources like The Vanual and TV shows like Tiny House, Big Living on HGTV. Everyone wants to be somewhere else effectively, so take a chance to be mainstream and follow the crowd.
There are things that you’ll learn on the streets of Bali that you could never learn in a classroom. (I can’t tell you what they are because I’ve never been to Bali, but if you make it to the big time, hit a sister up.) Every country and every continent will be able to teach you something that NU is missing and all you have to do is get there, really.
Let’s be real, you’re not getting any younger and those back pains and cynical attitudes are starting to kick in. So before you settle down and get a few cats, take this no-strings-attached time in your life to see a new part of the world. Roughing it in hostels and eating three different entrees for dinner is only gonna get harder, probably.
Do I even need to elaborate on this one?
Most students don’t even know how closed their eyes are until they travel. Cultures, religions and values vary so drastically around the world and it’s hard to be open minded when you’ve only experienced one. Not to mention the differences in economic states around the world. Stay humble.
Your killer dance moves should be set free. When culture changes are affecting you, remember this one important fact: Dance is a universal language.
If you can actually learn other languages, you should! Studies show that people become 2.7 points hotter when they can speak another language. Quote me.
Every social situation deserves a refresher every now and then and if your friend group is lacking culture, book a flight to Europe, fall in love with an Italian, and establish some new #BFFGoals. One of two things can happen: either it will go really well and you’ll have some new friends for life or you’ll realize how important you home base squad is and you’ll appreciate them more. All in all, a solid win.
Maybe you lost yourself in Brazil? Who knows? Go find yourself in new adventures and expose yourself to new ideas and communities where you might fit like a missing puzzle piece.
