Everyone knows the west coast is the best coast, but if you still aren’t convinced, here’s why the west coast has everything from nature to big cities and everything in between. You can explore the desert, hike in the woods, or snowboard on an Olympic course. Seriously, here are 10 reasons the West Coast is the best coast.
There is so much culture in a small space. Each city or area on the west coast has their own assortment of different cultures. Almost everyone came from somewhere else, so there are a lot of immigrants who all bring their own culture. It creates a beautiful mosaic of people and traditions.
Each culture brings different food, so the array of food is incredible and unlike anywhere else. While you can find Mexican and Japanese food on the east coast, it is just different (and better) on the west coast. If you’re from a city on the west coast you probably have a much more extensive knowledge of food compared to most typical Americans because we are exposed to so much. People care about food a lot, not just how it tastes, but where it comes from and how it is curated, so that care translates into the taste. Not to mention- In-n-out so obviously is a good reason the west coast is the best.
The shops on the west coast are the best because there is such a great range of stores. There is everything from thrift to designer. My personal favorites are vintage stores which you can find in every major west coast city. Vintage pieces are a great investment because no one else will have the same thing as you.
Basketball, football, baseball, we have it all: Warriors, Raiders, 49ers, Dodgers, Mariners, Seahawks, Giants. Grab tickets for a game with your favorite team and you’re guaranteed to have a blast. The multiple sports teams is another reason the west coast is the best.
The weather all around is much more moderate on the west coast; however, you can find whatever climate you want. There is hot weather in places like LA pretty much year round, but head up to Lake Tahoe in the winter months for some snow. The Bay Area has moderate weather ranging from the 50s-70s year round. Portland and Seattle have a lot of rain, but it never gets too cold.
There is so much beautiful nature on the west coast from Yosemite to Olympic National Park. Walk in the Sequoia forests or explore Death Valley, you can find it all on the west coast.
There are so many different types of people on the west coast, but we all have a laid back vibe. It is true that the pace is slower and people take their time to get to know you.
Especially in offices, people do not dress up like they do on the east coast. Even in the big companies people rarely wear suits and it is much more common to find people in sweats and jeans. This shows the laid back vibe because people like to be comfy during work.
This one often seems like a myth, but I have had my fair share of sightings. In a lot of places on the west coast you are only a few people away from celebrities because someone always knows someone who knows a celebrity so it happens a lot more than you would think.
We have the best rappers. Tupac called Oakland his spiritual home. We made Kendrick, NWA, Snoop, the list goes on and on and on.
