As women it feels like there is a lot of pressure on us all the time to be in a relationship. Everyone wants to know when you’re getting a boyfriend. Your grandma, your nail technician, even your doctor! Why does everyone care about your relationship status so much? It is none of their business! Men are celebrated for being single, but women are old hags and desperate if they don’t have a man. I am here to assure you that being single is freaking awesome. It is the best. It is liberating. Everyone should be single! Here are 10 reasons why being single is awesome!

1. You learn so much about yourself when you’re single.

When you are in a relationship you spend a lot of time worrying about the other person and their needs. It is normal in a relationship to take a lot of time thinking about how to be successful in the relationship. When you are single you can take that time and spend it learning how to make yourself happy instead! Embrace your time alone and learn who you are! What do you want out of life? Learn who you really are while you are single.

2. You can do whatever you want.

When you are single you can do whatever you want all the time. You don’t owe anyone anything! It’s amazing. You don’t need to check in with anyone or worry about if what you’re doing might bother someone else. You get to do 100% of what you want 100% of the time. Why would you need another reason to be single?

3. Men smell bad.

Men are so smelly. Something about their natural scent is just gross. I don’t know why they smell the way they do, but it’s just gross for some reason. For some reason there is an idea out there that men smell good, but don’t be fooled. Men only smell good after using heavily scented cologne and deodorant. Beware of their natural scent. It will wreck you.

4. You will save money.

Dating is expensive! It is the 21st century and women are embracing their independence. This means that men aren’t always paying for dates anymore. This also means that dating just got a whole lot more expensive for women. Half of the appeal of going on dates was to get a free meal. go home and make your own food. You will eat whatever you want, save money, and you don’t have to worry about not eating a lot to make him think you don’t eat a lot. Dating is weird.

5. You can spend more time on your hobbies.

If you aren’t having to fill your time with a relationship, you can spend time picking up some new hobbies. Who knows, maybe you have a hidden talent for art that you would never discovered if you were in a relationship. Go paint, take a yoga class, try baking. There are so many things you can try, so get out there and discover what you really enjoy doing. There are so many fun hobbies, try them all!

6. You can put more energy into friendships.

One unfortunate thing that tends to happen when people get in relationships is that they stop paying as much attention to their friends. When you guys break up, your friends are the people that are going to be there for you when you need to cry. He will be long gone! Staying single gives you more time to focus on your friendships. Your friends will notice this and they will reciprocate! Having solid friendships is way more important than a relationship, so don’t blow them off! Call your bestie, she wants to take an art class with you.

7. You get the entire bed all to yourself.

Let me put this image in your head. You meet this guy. He is perfect he’s hot. You think he is what has been missing in your life. You start dating and one night you invite him to spend the night. You are sandwiched between the edge of the bed and the wall because he thinks he has the right to take up all of the space in your bed! On top of that he’s sweaty! Why would you put yourself through that? Stay single and take up every inch of your bed. I don’t know if that is possible, but you need to find a way.

8. You don’t have to wonder if you’re with the right person.

Relationships can go one of two ways. You break up or get married. There is not any in between and both of those scenarios are pretty extreme. When you are in a relationship you have to constantly wonder which way your relationship is going. That mindset can be stressful! Thinking that way all the time can seriously weigh on you, so stay single and you will never have to wonder!

9. You can flirt with whoever you want to.

One of the most fun things about being a girl is flirting. You can also use it to your advantage. You’re at the bar and want a drink? Flirt with someone. They will buy it for you. There is a wait at the restaurant you want to eat at? Flirt with the host. You’ll get in. When you are in a relationship you can’t use that magic power! It is one of women’s greatest weapons. Don’t give it up for some random dude.

10. You never have to share your food.

This is arguably the single most important reason for you to stay single. If you are anything like me, you are hungry all the time and you do not like to share anything. Especially your food. For some reason couples share things. They share a lot of food. Did you want the last slice of pizza? Too bad. Your boyfriend wanted it and you share food, so it is his now.
