5 Reality Shows That You Should Be Watching

Reality shows have a way of hooking people in. Reality shows can be quite interesting, and no I’m not talking about shows like, ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’, although, they are good at creating drama. In my opinion, good reality shows involve real people, not reality stars. Here are the five reality shows that you should be watching, if you aren’t already.

1. Love Island (USA)

‘Love Island’ (USA) is the American version of the British series. There’s nothing like watching people fall in love… or maybe there is, because there are several shows on it. ‘Love Island’ premiered In America on July 9th, 2019 on the CBS network. The new CBS series airs every week on Tuesday – Friday at 7pm; it usually is on just before ‘Big Brother’, so if you’re free, just turn on CBS. On ‘Love Island’, contestants must remain paired up in order to stay on the island. The couple that makes it to the end wins $100,000.

2. Catfish

This MTV series has been on the air for several years now, so if you haven’t started watching it, then you can catch up no using the Hulu or MTV app. The TV series is based on the 2010 film, Catfish. The movie was directed by Henry Joost, a friend of Nev’s and Ariel Schulman, Nev’s brother; they both believed that Nev was being cat-fished, so they filmed the whole discovery and turned it into a documentary film. Catfish: The TV Show is on its seventh season with Nev Schulman as the host. The goal of the show is to reveal the catfish’s true identity.

3. Big Brother

‘Big Brother’ aired its first season back in 2001 and 18 years later, it’s still a hit. Every summer ‘Big Brother’ invites 16 strangers to live a house that isolates them from the outside world, where they must compete for the $500,000 prize. Each week a contestant is nominated and given the chance to save themselves from eviction, but come eviction night, someone will leave the house.  The host of the series is the infamous Julie Chen Moonves, who has been the host for all 21 seasons.

4. The Hill’s: New Beginnings

“The Hill’s: New Beginnings” is a revival of the original reality series, “The Hills”, which first aired in 2006.  Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Stephanie Pratt, Audrina Patridge, Whitney Port, Jason Wahler, Frankie Delgado and Brody Jenner were apart of the original cast of “The Hills”. The majority of the cast have returned for the show’s sequel, except for Lauren Conrad, but to take her place is Mischa Barton and Brandon Thomas Lee. The reality show essentially dives into the lives of Hollywood’s finest.

5. Cake Wars

If you love dessert, then how haven’t you watched this show already? ‘Cake Wars’ will be on its sixth season when it returns in August, so this gives you time to catch-up on the series before it starts up again. The show is hosted by Jonathon Bennet, who has starred in ‘Mean Girls’ and ‘Celebrity Big Brother’. When it comes to this reality show, it’s all about what you bring to the table (literally). During the first round, contestants are only allowed to use a certain number of ingredients that go with the chosen theme. After the first round, one contestant will be eliminated. In the second round, the teams are given two assistants to help them make their biggest creations. One more contestant is eliminated before the winner crowned. The winner of that season is featured in a special event and is awarded $10,000.

Are you a fan of any of these reality shows? Which reality show are you going to binge-watch next? Let us know in the comments.
