There are times when just about anybody can admit to feeling fat. Someone can be too thin and feel fat. Someone can be an average weight and feel fat. Someone can be overweight and feel fat. It’s not necessarily about the weight of our bodies, but how we perceive that weight which defines feeling fat.
We all have fat, some of us more than others. We also all feel fat at times in our lives, which happens for some more than others. This is for the times when you are feeling fat and just can’t seem to see how beautiful you really are, both inside and out.
We all have fat on our bodies. It’s actually used to protect all that is inside of us. The thing is, we’ve made it such a negative connotation to have it, that we are starting to see ourselves as only the fat on bodies, as opposed to anything else. This is what drives us to that “feeling fat” sensation.
We are more than just what we feel. We are more than our weight. Inside of us all is a soul, a person, a living being that loves and laughs. We can be so distracted by what’s outside of us, that we forget about everything else. We are simply so much more than that.
It’s okay to have bad days. It’s okay to think you’re not looking the best. It’s okay to get upset when you can’t fit into an old pair of jeans. It’s not okay to hate yourself for these things.
In the end, it’s not going to matter whether or not your old clothes fit, but how you look at yourself in the mirror at the end of the day. This “feeling fat” is a temporary misconception within your mind. Just think about it: You wouldn’t tell a child, your mother, a best friend that she is undeserving of love because she has gained weight. Why tell yourself that? Everyone deserves love and respect at the end of the day, especially from yourself.
Other people are not your competition. Sometimes it’s this competition that makes us feel the way we do about our weight, because those who have certain body types seem to have it all. We somehow put a filter on these people, forgetting that there is so much more to them than what they look like—just as there is so much more to you.
It’s not about how much you weigh, but how much you’ve grown as a person. During those moment we are feeling fat, its hard to remember all the positive things about ourselves that have nothing to do with weight. You’ve become more wise, intelligent, passionate and successful. You have become a person who is cultured, understanding, selfless—whatever it may be. That is what you should focus on.
It may seem difficult, but on the days that you are feeling fat or most negative about your body are the days you should be caring for yourself the most. You must acknowledge your mood, your feelings, and the treatment of your body most when you feel like you can’t.
Caress yourself, take a bubble bath, eat foods that make you feel happy to be alive without judgement of how they will affect your body. Go outside and do something that distracts your mind from the negativity. It’s most important that you act on these feelings in a positive way.
The reason you are feeling fat is ultimately because you care about your body. You worry for it. You feel it. That’s why you might think so negatively, because you are not reacting in a way that cares for it rather then judges it. Instead of giving in, you should fight for it. You should tell yourself that even on the days you feel like you can’t love yourself, you still deserve it.
