Raincoats That Will Keep You Dry And In Style

The rainy season is coming and with that the last thing we want is to get wet or worse, lose our style by having to carry a huge umbrella. Well, if you are one of those who hate carrying an umbrella around and at the same time hate getting wet, we bring you the solution: raincoats! Raincoats are a type of jacket which fabric has been specially treated to repel water, this treatment of water-repellent fabrics was originally tested and created by Charles Macintosh in the early 1820s and he called Indian rubber cloth. The fabrics used to make raincoats have been specially made taking into account two main factors. The first one is absorption which means how much water can be soaked by the fabric and the second one is the penetration, meaning the amount of water that can sink into the fabric. The fabrics used to make raincoats are either absorbent or repellent and the raincoats that are made out of tightly-woven fabric are usually the best. You could also find all-weather raincoats that are those that have a removable lining so they can be worn in any weather, therefore, it’s a good one-time investment.

A fun fact about raincoats is that when they were first created by the firm Aquascutum around 1851, they were only worn by British soldiers in the trenches during World War I. this garment appeared parallel to the invention of the trench coat and were popularized together. Raincoats are also a great addition to your wardrobe in case you are a huge fan of hiking or tend to walk early in the morning so you can remain warm and dry.
