11 Quirky Podcasts That Are Perfect For All My Aquarius Queens
As an Aquarius, I am constantly searching through Spotify and iTunes looking for funny, interesting, and quirky podcasts to help me pass the time. I absolutely cannot take complete silence, but I also get tired of listening to the same playlists over and over again. However, it can be hard to know which podcasts I will like based only on the summary, so finding the right ones can be a struggle. For all my fellow Aquarius and podcast listeners, I’ve decided to make the search easy for you by providing a list of fun, interesting podcasts for you to listen to!
1. Spooked
I’m not a fan of horror films at all but I am a sucker for a good scary story (is it masochism? Probably). “Spooked” is one of the most amazing spooky, quirky podcasts I have ever listened to, and I definitely binge-listened to it during my car rides home from work. Will you be scared and possibly have nightmares? Maybe. But these personal ghost stories told by the people who experienced them are incredibly fascinating. Plus, the storytelling skills are chilling, so be warned.
2. Hello from the Magic Tavern
This is one of my all-time favorite quirky podcasts. “Hello from the Magic Tavern” is a comedy podcast taking place in the fictional land of Foon. The show is hosted by a human (who fell through a magic portal from Earth), a shapeshifting badger, and a wizard, and each episode includes different guests and magical creatures. It’s absolutely hilarious and a perfect “driving to/from work” podcast because the conversations are always interesting enough to make the car ride go by in a flash. It’s a bit risque at times, but it never failed to make me laugh and gains glowing Aquarius approval.
3. Smartless
To all my Aquariuses: I know how you feel about collecting interesting and random information that you spew back out later like a “fun fact” fountain. With that in mind, “Smartless” is one the best intellectual, quirky podcasts for you. The show is hosted by three amazing comedic actors – Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett – and they interview some pretty amazing guests, from astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson to vice president Kamala Harris to comedic actors Seth Rogen and Melissa McCarthy. You will learn so many interesting things about the guests themselves and their fields, so all my Aquarius queens will love this excess of funny knowledge.
4. Every Little Thing
Another option for fun factoid-filled, quirky podcasts, “Every Little Thing” is another great podcast for collecting information for your “fun facts” hose. You’ll learn everything from “Did cavemen really carry clubs” and “What happens to your sense of smell after it disappears for a while?” The show also offers a helpline so listeners can ask their most pressing questions to be dissected and answered during the podcast.
5. Call Your Girlfriend
“Call Your Girlfriend” is a self-proclaimed “podcast for long-distance besties everywhere,” so perfect for all my Aquarius queens looking for quirky podcasts to fill the silence when you can’t talk to your best friend. The show is hosted by best friends Aminatou Sow and Ann Friedman and it’s basically like listening to a private conversation between two besties. The show is shameless and open and no conversation is too risque or taboo to be talked about, which is exactly like how you and your best friend talk to each other.
6. How Did This Get Made?
For all my cinematic Aquarius babes who are obsessed with movies – the good, the bad, and the ugly – and who want quirky podcasts to fulfill those obsessive film needs, “How Did This Get Made” is the show for you. Hosted by Paul Scheer, June Diane Raphael, and Jason Mantzoukas, this podcast takes a deep dive into all the (worst) best movies ever made, from the catastrophe that was the live-action “The Last Airbender” to the absolutely absurd “Winter’s Tale.” As they dissect and analyze these laughably bad films with different guests, you’ll absolutely lose it laughing in agreement.
7. Phoebe Reads A Mystery
An audiobook and podcast all rolled into one? Yes, please, any day. This is the most soothing of the quirky podcasts on this list as you can easily spend hours listening to Phoebe Judge’s calming voice reading to you. In “Phoebe Reads A Mystery,” each episode is a different chapter in an Agatha Christie novel, which makes it a great late-night podcast or driving background. There’s really not much more to say about this one, but if you are an Aquarius who is constantly stressed about not having read a book since 2012, I highly suggest this podcast.
8. Decoder Ring
Once again, we’ve returned to the best kind of quirky podcast: the informative, factoid shows. “Decoder Ring” is hosted by Willa Paskin and covers all kinds of interesting topics and histories. Ever wondered where the idea of “The Karen” came from? What about the history of hydration? Ever wonder what happened to Jennifer Anniston and what her history with the tabloids looks like? “Decoder Ring” will answer all your weirdest questions and give you the whole history behind them, so you’ll have the most interesting facts to bring to your next family dinner.
9. How to Fail
Aquariuses are widely known for being gifted kid burnouts, and finding motivation and hope can be incredibly difficult at times. So in terms of quirky podcasts, “How to Fail” is a great podcast to help gain some historical perspective. Elizabeth Day hosts this hopeful podcast as she brings on prominent and successful guests to discuss their personal journeys and the ways they have failed throughout their life and still achieved their dreams. This is a great podcast for teaching us the value of failure and encouraging us to keep trying even after we fail.
10. The Mortified Podcast
Remember that one embarrassing thing that happened in middle school that you buried deep, deep in the recesses of your mind? Yeah, us too. “The Mortified Podcast” is one of the best quirky podcasts for reminding us of all the things we’re too ashamed to remember. The guests of the show bring on their own middle school diaries and terribly cringe-worthy stories to keep us all humble and unite us all in our own relatable shame.
11. Radio Cherry Bombe
Aquarius foody queens looking for other successful queens to inspire them to reach for their dreams and break those glass ceilings, we have one of the best quirky podcasts for you: “Radio Cherry Bombe” is a show that concentrates on the food industry and the personal stories of female chefs, writers, and bakers that are paving a path for themselves. We love a foody goddess, we’re here for a foody goddess, and we’re suggesting to everyone listening that it’s time to go check out “Radio Cherry Bombe.”
