12 Quick Weekday Breakfast Ideas

It’s an often-repeated cliche that we’ve all heard before: breakfast is the most important meal of the day. While this is true, it’s not always easy to eat breakfast, especially during the week.

Most people have early morning commitments on weekdays that make it difficult to have a full, hearty breakfast. But having class or work doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your health by ditching breakfast entirely. There are plenty of quick grab and go breakfast options that you can take advantage of during the week.

Here are 12 quick breakfast ideas that are perfect for your busy weekdays!

1. Pop Tarts

Pop Tarts are a great choice if you’re looking for a good-tasting and low effort breakfast for when you’re on the run. They come in a ton of different sweet flavors and different package sizes, so you can stock up on a couple different flavors and be set for breakfast for a while.

If you have a little bit of time, you can heat them up in the toaster or microwave before eating. Or, if you’re truly on the run, you can throw them in your backpack and eat them on the way to class or even eat them if you have a few extra minutes once you get to class.

2. Overnight Oats

If you’re a fan of oatmeal in the morning but don’t have the time to make it, try giving overnight oats a try. It’s a no-cook method to making oatmeal that you prepare the night before and enjoy in the morning.

The only thing really required for overnight oats are oats and milk (any kind) or water. If you’re looking to add some more flavor to your breakfast, try some overnight oat recipes, like peanut butter and jelly oats or banana Nutella oats.

3. Muffins

Muffins are a good grab and go breakfast if you’re on the run in the morning. They’re easy to keep in a bag and pull apart and eat in small bites when you’re sitting in your first class of the day.

If you’re a baker, you can make a dozen or so muffins over the weekend and have them ready to go during the week. Or, if you’re looking for something even easier, buy a pack of pre-made muffins from the grocery store.

4. Protein Bites

It’s not uncommon for your daily workout to happen in the morning. If you’re looking for a breakfast to eat on the go after your workout, try some protein bites.

There are a ton of ways to make protein bites at home without having to bake a thing. Stir together oats, peanut butter, flax seed, chocolate chips, honey, and vanilla extract, chill the mixture in the refrigerator, and then roll the mixture into 1-inch balls. Of course, there are lots of little modifications you can make to this recipe to make it perfect for you

One of the good things about this recipe is it’s easy to save– you can store them in the refrigerator for a week or in the freezer for three months. A little weekend cooking can supply you with some post-workout breakfast for weeks.

5. Toast With Peanut Butter

Here’s a good option if you have a toaster on hand and a little bit of time in the morning. Toast with peanut butter is a great grab and go breakfast in the morning. Peanut butter is a good alternative to regular butter, and it’s a great way to add some sweetness to your morning breakfast.

6. Smoothie

Sometimes your mornings are so busy that you don’t even have time to eat. Smoothies are a good solution to this because you can drink them on your daily commute to work or class.

You can make smoothies the night before with frozen fruit and orange juice and have them ready to grab and go in the morning. It’s a great way to get a healthy and filling breakfast into your body without spending a ton of time cooking.

7. Parfait

Parfaits are a great option for a quick breakfast if you’re looking for a way to get more fruit into your diet. They’re easy to make ahead of time. Portion out your fruit, yogurt, and granola the night before and then assemble in the morning.

Parfaits are also really easy to customize. You have the freedom to experiment with different flavors of yogurt and different kinds of fruit.

8. Breakfast Burritos

Breakfast burritos are easy to pre-make the night before and microwave in the morning for a quick breakfast. They can be made ahead of time and saved by storing in the freezer. It’s a good option if you’re looking for a quick breakfast option that’s more savory than sweet.

10. Portable Applesauce

There are some options for quick breakfasts if you’re not much of a chef or a baker. Some grocery stores sell apple sauces in portable easy to eat pouches. They’re the perfect size to throw into your backpack when you’re on your way to class in the morning.

They come in a ton of different flavors and they’re way easier to eat in a hurry than regular apple sauce.

11. Smoothie Bowl

Smoothie bowls are a good choice if you have a little bit of extra time one day during the week and you’re looking to treat yourself.

Believe it or not, smoothie bowls are actually pretty easy to make. Blend up some frozen fruit and a little bit of orange juice or water to give your smoothie a more solid consistency, similar to a sorbet. Top with anything you want, like slices of fresh fruit, peanut butter, or chocolate chips.

Smoothie bowls are a good option if you’re looking for something a little different for your weekday breakfast.
