I’ve been single all eighteen years of my life, so I think I know a thing or two about being single. While there are many pros to being single, it also comes with a nice big ol’ bag of cons.
Those twin XL beds are only so big and trying to fit two people on there is not exactly ideal. So just think of all the space you get all to yourself…and the stuffed animals that you totally brought to school with you.
I don’t mean the free samples at the store. One day you could be into the mysterious boy who plays his guitar on the quad and the next day you can be all over that nerdy boy in your European history class. Flirt with different people and get all the samples you can.
You don’t have to worry about your significant other dumping you, because lets be honest, most college relationships don’t last too long. Seeing other people go through their breakups will make you happy that you aren’t going through that too.
This is probably one of the best of the pros. I mean, shaving your legs just takes SO long. No one has time for that every morning, especially when you’re trying to do so in the cramped quarters of your dorm room shower.
You spent all week studying for a huge test and it’s finally over so you and your roommate are going to the bar to unwind; but of course she has to invite her boyfriend to come with. Now your fun girls night has become a third wheeling shindig.
I’ve had my fair share of tinder experiences, and while nothing came from them, I’ve learned that college boys have one big assumption about single girls. They think that if you’re not in a relationship at this very moment it means that you don’t want one in the near future – all you want to do is hookup, when that might not be the case at all.
They may think they are trying to be nice by helping you find someone to date, but it does get irritating, especially when you have mentioned several times that you’re fine being single. Not everyone needs to be in a relationship in college.
If you’re like me, where all three of your roommates have boyfriends and you’re the only single one, it can get pretty lonely. They always have someone they can cuddle and watch movies with while all you have is that stuffed animal from the 7th grade that you made at build-a-bear and a big bag of popcorn.
Despite not being in a relationship, college is the time to go out, have fun, learn about yourself, and experience new things. You will have the rest of your life to be in a relationship. Enjoy being single while you still can.
