10 Playlist Inspiration Songs You Need To Add Right Now

Getting bored of your playlist and looking to add some new tunes? We've got you covered with some of our favorite songs on our summer playlist!

Music gets me through the day. You can always find me with my headphones on, bumping my music pretty much all day. But do you ever end up listening to the same songs over and over again like me, in desperate need of some playlist inspiration? While there’s nothing wrong with that, sometimes it’s good to step out and add new music to your playlist. But where do you start? There are millions of songs on music streaming apps and it can get a little overwhelming trying to sort through them and come up with playlist inspiration. That’s where I come to the rescue. Below I have curated a list of 10 songs that you should add on your playlist. You can thank me later!

1. New Light by John Mayer

There comes a time in a musician’s career where they experiment with different sounds than they are known for. That’s what John Mayer does here. Most people may know John Mayer for his mellow hits like Free Fallin’ and Your Body is a Wonderland. But he takes a different route with his new song New Light. Mayer gives us nostalgic 80s vibes and an amazing guitar solo in the middle of the song that is great playlist inspiration.

2. Lovely by Billie Eilish featuring Khalid

Not every song we listen to has to be upbeat and fun. You need those melancholy songs when you are going through some rough times or just need a good cry session. lovely by Billie Eilish and Khalid is the perfect song for those situations. The song is dark and talks about someone trying to get out of a dark headspace. Despite the somber tone, the lyrics are really powerful and the voices of Eilish and Khalid blend well together.

3. Rock by Next Town Down

Next Town Down features 5 young guys who harmonize well together and are known for their singing covers on YouTube. Boy bands usually get a bad reputation for doing songs that are considered bubble gum pop but Next Town Down breaks that mold with their song Rock. It has a groovy and R&B sound to it that will make you want to grab a partner and head onto the dance floor.

4. Losin Control by Russ

I have a confession to make. This song actually came out in 2016 but it’s still a bop. Losin Control is not your stereotypical rap song. Russ adds an element of R&B to this track. It’s extremely slow compared to a lot of rap songs and it actually has a very powerful message. Russ wrote this song about the time he cheated on his ex-girlfriend. Honestly, we give Russ some points for owning up to how much he hurt his girl in the past.

5. Easily by Bruno Major

Sensual and love are the words that come to mind when I hear this song because it has such a soft and airy feeling to it. This is due primarily to how Bruno Major sings the song and how the guitar is played. This playlist inspiration is the perfect date night song. Side Note: Don’t get Bruno Major and Bruno Mars mixed up like I did.

6. Hard Times by Paramore

Songs that have deep messages often take a gloomy tone. Paramore decided to flip the script on that notion with Hard Times, which is an oxymoron of a song. The lyrics suggest a deep sadness while the beat is extremely upbeat. For this playlist inspiration, you honestly may be confused when you hear this song. You might not know if you should cry or dance. Honestly do both!

7. Yes Indeed by Lil Baby featuring Drake

If you are a rap/hip-hop fan than Yes Indeed may be the song for you. Firstly, it features a great rapper of our time: Drake. Secondly, it just has a great beat to it. If you find yourself bopping your head or getting up to bust a move don’t be alarmed. That’s what good music is supposed to do. This song was definitely added onto my lit playlist.

8. Por Perro by Sebastian Yatra

I believe in having a diverse playlist and want my playlist inspiration to reflect this. This includes listening to music that’s not in English. Por Perro, which translates to “Damn It”, is about a man who lost his love and is now regretting it. He’s trying his best to get over her but can’t seem to shake her out of his mind. The great thing about this song is that you don’t have to understand the song for it to be good. But hey, it’s a perfect excuse to brush up on your Spanish!

9. Cheat by Emily Burns

Songs have the power to express how we feel about many situations, especially romantic relationships. In her song Cheat, Emily Burns expresses how she felt about a past relationship she had. Throughout the song she describes how she would have handled the relationship differently than her ex-partner. Despite the lyrics being serious, the tone of the song has a dance house and pop vibe to it.

10. Mignon Garçon by 4Keus featuring Naza, Keblack & Dry

Last but not least we have another non-English bop. Mignon Garçon which translates to “cute boy” is a French rap and afro beat infused song. This song may be out of some people’s comfort zone but it’s still a good one. If you play this song at a party, there’s a good chance you will get people dancing. You don’t have to know what the song says to bump to it.
