Top 10 Places To Gain The Freshman 15 At UNL

After a difficult exam, a long study session, or just a jam-packed day of watching Netflix; rewarding yourself with a dessert is always a good idea. Luckily, Lincoln is stocked with its fair share of places to get a greasy burger or a scrumptious dessert. Here are the top 10 places to grab food at UNL!

1. Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers

The best place to get fried chicken near campus, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is a great place to go with friends to get some greasy chicken fingers without breaking the bank or needing to find a car. Pro Tip: Instead of getting the coleslaw with the four-finger combo, sub toast instead!

2. Runza

With multiple locations around Lincoln, including one in the Union, Runza is a Nebraska classic. Unknown to many people outside of Nebraska, ordering a runza sandwich is a must for any out-of-state student.

3. Honest Abe’s Burgers and Freedom

Abe’s is hands-down the best place to grab a quick burger when the dining hall food just isn’t cutting it anymore. Plus, they have delicious vegetarian options!

4. Fuzzy’s Taco Shop

A perfect stop after a night out, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop is a great place to go for a margarita and nachos. As an additional bonus, Fuzzy’s is located right off campus, so it is an easy walk back to your dorm after you’ve refueled post-party.

5. Goldenrod Pastries

With a menu perfect for people who are gluten or lactose intolerant, Goldenrod Pastries is an easy drive off campus if you’re looking to explore Lincoln outside of campus and downtown. Plus, Goldenrod’s “the good life” sign is an Instagram timeline must.

6. Rabbit Hole Bakery

If you’re looking for a delicious bakery without needing a car, Rabbit Hole Bakery is perfect with its location in the Haymarket. Make sure you check out their Instagram for their frequent giveaways so you can get a treat without breaking the bank!

7. Krispy Kreme

Krispy Kreme is a classic when it comes to donuts. When a fresh donut is calling your name, Krispy Kreme is the place to go. Feel like a free donut? Drive to Krispy Kreme wearing a pirate costume on Talk Like a Pirate day to receive some freebies!

9. Ivanna Cone

Known by many UNL students as having the best ice cream around, Ivanna Cone is the best place within walking distance to get a nice cone on a hot day. Plus, their flavors change every day so you always have an excuse to stop in and see what’s new! If the store looks busy, check out their window in the alley outside!

10. Ice Cream Bro

If you’re looking for ice cream but don’t want to leave campus, Ice Cream Bro is the way to go. Delivering every Thursday from 8pm-2am, Ice Cream Bro is the best way to get ice cream delivered straight to your dorm without even needing to go outside! Plus, a pint of ice cream from Ice Cream Bro is cheaper than an equivalent pint at the campus convenient store!
