10 Places That Are Still Open With Little to No Human Interaction

Since the Coronavirus outbreak, many places and businesses are no longer open. There are a couple places for human necessity.

1. Grocery Store

This is one of the few places that are still open. I went the other day and there was hardly anybody there. It was amazing. I was able to get in and out much quicker than I ever have before. If there was someone in an aisle I would wait on the other end for them to finish and go to the next aisle before going in the same aisle with them. You got to be careful these days, everyone is a suspect.

2. Doctor Office

Even though the doctor’s office is still open I refused to go. I rather handle my visit virtually. My doctor’s office called me and informed me about an appointment I had coming up. They quickly told me how there weren’t many in the office and those that were sick sat on the other side of the office. That’s not good enough for me. I am taking all precautions and just staying away from anything that can make me ill.

3. Drug Store

Even though they are still open I still use drive-thru to pick up medication. Ever since the Coronavirus outbreak, the drug store has been super empty. I went the other day and it looked like a ghost town inside with just a pharmacist, a cashier, and a couple of shoppers. This is the best time to have your medication sent to you through mail order service.

4. The Park

This is a great way to get out and get a whiff of the fresh outdoors. I go to the park to walk and clear my mind. Since there is nobody there, the silence is amazing, and I treasure it. I can walk at my own pace not have to worry about being in the way of others. My company is the birds that fly by and my dog, and I wouldn’t change that for anything. Being able to walk my dog off the leash is great, there aren’t others around to distract her. We can enjoy our peace and quiet together.

5. Gas Station

Of course, the gas station is still open. I am curious why so many people are getting gas. Pretty much everything is closed, where are these people going? The cost of gas is so low. I wish I was able to go places so that I can get some of this cheap gas.

6. Hospital

The hospitals cannot close especially with everything that’s going with this Coronavirus disease. I feel that employees at the hospital should not worry about job security, they are very much needed now than ever. There are limits to allowing people in the hospital. There are no visitors allowed, this is a major cut down on human interaction. Also, those that are deemed to not be in critical condition are being released to make room for those that need to be in the hospital. Since there is still no cure for the virus there are not many people going to the hospital for leisure.

7. River Walk

I was so hyped to find out that the River Walk was opened. But that quickly changed, yes the River Walk is open but many of the surrounding bars and stores are closed it makes the River Walk super boring. Sadly, the River Walk boar tour is closed. I feel this is because it doesn’t follow the social distancing rule. So yes, you can still walk outside and look at the river but that’s it. Boring. That can be done pretty much anywhere. This is the emptiest I’ve seen downtown. More ducks are walking around the River Walk than tourists.

8. Public Transportation Bus

The city bus is still operational, but passengers are advised to sit 6 feet away from each other. This lessens human interaction, social distancing. This type of transportation is critical to those who work in hospitals, grocery stores, and other facilities that are still open. Since the Coronavirus outbreak, there has been a major drop in riders and bus drivers. This decrease has caused major changes in the drop-off and pick up destinations. Since there have been staffing shortages this limits the availability of bus routes.

9. Tower of the Americas

This 750-foot tower stands tall and open with business as usual during this Coronavirus scare. This is one of the few places downtown that is still open. You can still dine, watch 4-d movies, and host special events at the Tower of the Americas. They are limiting the number of guests that can be in the tower at a time as per the Public Health official advised. During this uncertain time, I would love to go to the Tower of the Americas and admire the scenery of the amazing view in peace. There has been a reduction in the staff but the service and food are still great.

10. Humane Society

During this troubling time animals rely heavily on the community for help. You can stop by the facility and donate to the San Antonio Humane Society Emergency Fund. If you are unable to stop by in person you can donate online. Your donation will not only help the animals but will help the emergency staff caring for the animals. During this time many are worried about their selves and their family. They are not trying to expand their family because many are on a budget and trying to take care of their current situation. This is unfortunate for the animals at the shelter waiting to be adopted to their forever home. When I drive by the Humane Society I always see several cars and volunteers. Recently it has looked very empty with just a few cars. To help the community I will go by there and donate. There aren’t too many people there and they are still open.

Pretty much everything is closed but I found a few places that are still open. Where have you been that’s still open? Comment below.
