12 Places In Queens For Cheap Eats

Where a student eats is an essential part of a college experience. For some, it’s not just a place where you can grab a $1 slice of pizza, but a place where memories are made. Although going into the city to munch always sounds tempting, a long train ride doesn’t. With that being said, look no further than around the neighborhood! Here are the 12 best places in Queens for cheap eats.

1. Caffe Bene

176-37 Union Turnpike, Fresh Meadows, NY 11366

Right across from campus, is a student’s version of a neighborhood café. Caffe Bene offers iced drinks, hot drinks, macaroons, waffles, you name it! If you’re in the mood for something sweet, but also need to get some studying done, make a trip to Caffe Bene.

2. Acquista Trattoria

178-01 Union Turnpike, Fresh Meadows, NY 11366

As a student in New York City, eating Italian food is obligatory. Check out Acquista’s, the SJU student’s go-to for some tasty Italian pasta. Don’t forget that they deliver! You may need some Italian carbs to get you through that study sesh.

3. Nikko Hibachi

177-21 Union Turnpike, Fresh Meadows, NY 11366

Did someone say “all you can eat?” For only $20.99 this Hibachi restaurant allows you to completely dig in! That deal makes it one of the best places in Queens for cheap eats. If you’re in the mood for some Asian cuisine, Nikko is the spot.

4. Regina Café and Pizzeria

176-49 Union Turnpike, Flushing, NY 11366

Who couldn’t always go for some pizza? Regina’s is the best place to treat yo self to some delicious homemade style pizza. Any topping you could imagine, is available. Regina’s has stolen a (pizza) SJU students’ hearts.

5. Double J Deli

16802 Union Turnpike, Flushing, NY 11366

You are not a Johnny if you’ve never had a sandwich from Double J’s at 2:00 AM. Double J’s has friendly staff, good eats and even better hours.

6. Bagels ‘N’ Cream

80-02 Surrey Pl, Jamaica, NY 11432

Bagels of all different tastes and sizes, need I say more? This hidden gem is truly “bae goals.”

7. Dunkin’ Donuts

Everyone knows that on Saturday and Sunday mornings, the Dunkin’ line can get pretty long. The good news is that there is another Dunkin’ Donuts location to get your iced caramel macchiato. We (donut) have time for long lines!

8. Vincenzo’s

168-19 Union Turnpike, Flushing, NY 11366

9. Lulu’s Bakery

18526 Union Turnpike, Fresh Meadows, NY 11366

Going to Lulu’s as an SJU student is a treat! Greeted by a friendly staff, this is an experience you don’t want to miss.

College campuses aren’t exactly notorious for great cuisine, but St. John’s has some decent options!

10. Mondo Subs.

St. John’s DAC.

This is your classic sandwich place. It’s pretty much like Subway, but has awesome chips. It’s very easy to overlook Mondo’s because you have your eyes on Taco Bell, but if you feel like having something a bit more fresh and less processed this is the place to go in DAC. For the quality, its one of the best places in Queens for cheap eats.

11. Innovation Kitchen.

Marillac Food Court.

The cool thing about this place is that it has a different menu every week. Whatever is being served is prepared right in front of you, so that’s a nice touch to college food. I prefer this because, to me, that means it’s going to be fresh and wasn’t cooked at 8:00 AM when you’re actually eating it around dinner time…

12. The Law School.

Big surprise here….the SJU Law School. I guess if you’re going to law school you deserve some good food. This location has by far the best food on campus. From the expansive salad bar to the absolutely incredible stir fry, the SJU Law School has it all. They even have a mini Starbucks. The reason most people don’t really think of the SJU Law School is because it doesn’t comply with the meal plan and it’s at the edge of campus and slightly out of the way. However, if you’re willing to walk the extra two minutes the SJU Law School never disappoints.
