When you first step onto campus, everything can seem a little crazy. People are moving in backing each other up in traffic, and with so much happening you get to see some colorful characters. You might not have known them in high school, but you are guaranteed to run into at least these 10 types of people within the first month of school. These guys might not be your cup of tea, or might become your very best friends either way they will surely make college interesting. Here, society19 presents the 10 types of people you will run into at college in hopes that it’ll help guide you through craziness.
You might have both have started college at the same time, but you have noticed that this person seems to know everyone already. Walking down the dorm halls, cafeteria, or even on the way to class they at least have five people talk to them along the way. Scrolling through your Twitter and Instagram feed you can see them at least tagged in several different pictures. You don’t know how they do it, but when they acknowledge your existence you feel good.
You know their roommate; in fact, their roommate is the only one of them you’ve run into. Like a ghost this person tends to never be heard from or seen throughout the dormitory. You wouldn’t even know if you had class with this person until they said something.
With a curl of their lip and a reveal of a perfectly white set of teeth the entire school experiences heart failure. This person tends to be at least two years into the college game has become well known throughout campus. Everyone either wants to be them, or be with them. They radiate a magnetic energy that draws in everybody from teachers to students. You tried to fight it at first, but when they looked your way you were wrecked.
This person has taken not one but two victory laps since being in college. Usually 24 years old this person will probably be older than most of their friends. Sometimes they will put homework above partying, but often then not their just trying to enjoy what is hopefully their last year here.
This person has their faces on at least one copy of the school’s newspaper. In the stadium their names are shouted out from adorning fans. They at least have one occult following on campus. If you have one of them in your class, they can easily be spotted in the universities swaged out sweatpants, snapbacks, and slides.
You might dabble in the arts of staying out late with friends, and not getting home until the clock strikes midnight. However, you got nothing on the party animal. Instead of getting home at midnight this person tends to come home at the crack of dawn. Their friends with all the club managers, frat brothers, and is invited to all the co-op house parties. Getting by on only caffeine you’re not sure how this person is passing their classes.
This person joined their chapter in the fall of freshman year and hasn’t looked back since. Decked out in Greek letters, and computer stickers dedicated to their house these guys are never too far from their fellow sisters or brothers. You can catch them at any social, hayride, or tailgate wearing the night’s theme. You can be certain these are people you’ll run into at college.
Ever have to do an all nighter for an exam in club lib? Then chances are you have run into this person at least a few times through out the semester. Married to their homework this person tends to stay focused on their educational path. Average grades don’t make their book, and that’s not a bad thing. If you end up being friends with this person try to at least get them to go out once in a while, because sitting in a study cubical 40 hours a week isn’t healthy for anyone.
Computer Science, Political Theory, any known major and this person has at least taken a class in all the subjects. They kind of coast through trying to find which future path suits them, but like most they suffer from commitment phobia. Its totally understandable though why do something you hate, and not love? This is one of the people you’ll run into at college for sure.
It must have been a cosmic miracle that you both had that one class, joined the same Greek chapter, or club because you think you just found your person. This person always laughs at your jokes, and gets you in a way other people don’t. The vibe is real with this person and you feel like you can be your complete weirdo self with them.
