Sometimes mornings are just super hectic. There are some days where it seems like you need to get a million things in order before you can finally walk out the door. One thing you can definitely take off your plate is making breakfast. No, I don’t mean skip breakfast. I’m talking about making a filling breakfast of oats the night before. There are so many different kinds of overnight oats recipes you can make, but this list includes some of my personal favorites.
If you love strawberry cake, smoothies, ice cream, or really just anything delectably creamy and full of strawberries, then you will love this overnight oats recipe. Making these delicious overnight oats is surprisingly simple. Just add old fashioned oats, strawberries (frozen or fresh), strawberry Greek yogurt, and milk to a bowl or jar then mix it all up and stick it in the fridge. You can also add chia seeds to this recipe if you feel like you need a little extra crunch and nutrients. You can’t mess it up and it really is just this simple to get a hearty and healthy breakfast in the morning.
If you feel like you need an extra kick in the morning, or just like the deep flavor of coffee, then this overnight oats recipe is for you! This recipe is also versatile and can be made almost any way you like. The base is oats, milk, vanilla extract, and a sweetener of your choice. But then you can add whatever kind of coffee and mix-ins you want. If you add some mocha coffee you can add a little chocolate syrup and chocolate chips. If you add some pumpkin spice coffee, you could then add some cinnamon and nuts. One thing I’ve learned from making overnight oats is it is all about your preferences. You learn what your favorite overnight oats recipes are through trial and error.
I know coconut is an acquired flavor for a lot of people, but in this overnight oats recipe, it is so good. Trust me, as a coconut aficionado, I feel like everyone should at least try this overnight oats recipe at least once. All you have to do to make it is mix oats, coconut milk, honey, and sweetened coconut flakes together and then wait patiently (or not so patiently) as it sets up in the fridge. It will be worth the agonizing wait, I promise.
Who doesn’t love pumpkin pie? Okay, I know some people who don’t actually love pumpkin pie but if you do or if you love a good ol’ pumpkin spice latte, then you’ll love this overnight oats recipe. First, this recipe starts with pumpkin puree, old fashioned oats, and milk. Then add, a sweetener of your choice (usually either maple syrup, honey, or Agave), vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt. Next, you then mix in cinnamon and pumpkin spice for that true pumpkin pie flavor. If you want a little something extra, add some pecans and chia seeds to really make this a breakfast you won’t forget.
This is my favorite overnight oats variation. It is so good. It’s honestly like eating dessert for breakfast but it’s also relatively healthy and full of protein and fiber due to the peanut butter and oats. But I cannot tell a lie, I have also put whipped cream on top and eaten these overnight oats for dessert; it really is just that good. To make this amazing recipe, just mix oats, cocoa, peanut butter, honey or maple syrup, and milk. It would almost be a crime to not add semi-sweet chocolate chips to this mix too, so make sure you add as much of those as your heart desires.
If you’re in the mood for a classic overnight oats variation, then definitely go for blueberry muffin overnight oats. You always see blueberries and oats together whether they are hot, cold or in a granola bar. They’re just a tried and true pair. Blueberry muffin overnight oats are also super easy to make. First, add the blueberries, oats, and milk to a bowl then mix. Next, you can add delicious flavorings like cinnamon, vanilla extract, and honey. It’s always delicious and does taste pretty close to a blueberry breakfast muffin. It’s definitely a classic for a reason.
If you are feeling like that classic fall ambiance at any time of the year, then definitely go for the apple pie overnight oats. I feel like no one can ever go wrong when putting apples and cinnamon together, it’s just always delicious. To make this reliable oats recipe just add oats, milk, maple syrup, and diced apple to a bowl. Then, get ready to add all the spices, including cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and brown sugar. This recipe is healthy as well as sweet and delicious. It really is the best of both worlds!
For another delicious combination that will never get old, go for peanut butter and banana overnight oats. You’ll start with the base of milk and oats and then add bananas, honey, and peanut butter. The more the merrier when it comes to the peanut butter in my opinion. You can also spice up this traditional recipe with some cinnamon and maple syrup if you want a caramelized bananas foster kind of taste. Or, you can add some Nutella because honestly, everything is better with Nutella.
If you’re ever in the mood for cake at breakfast time (and sometimes life is just like that), then try out this cake and breakfast mashup. Or, carrot cake overnight oats for a more respectable name. It has everything you’d find in a delectable carrot cake without the guilt. But you can also add some whipped cream or a little cream cheese icing to turn this breakfast into an awesome dessert. To make this versatile recipe just mix up carrot puree, frozen carrot shreds, milk, maple syrup, milk, vanilla extract and of course the oats. You can also add nuts and raisins if you want the authentic carrot cake feel. It is the most ingredient heavy recipe on this list, but it’s totally worth it and you definitely won’t regret this one.
