10 Outfits To Get You Through Syllabus Week

Preparing outfits for spring syllabus week can be a challenge, especially in the winter. It’s cold, probably snowing and you’ve just spent the last month lounging around the house in your sweatpants. It’s so easy to wake up for your 8AM and throw on your comfiest clothes, but with just a little more thought you can go from a traditional syllabus bum to the trendiest person in your class week one. This guide will give you enough outfit inspiration to get through your syllabus week.

1. Black leggings and a vest

Black leggings are the ultimate staple for any closet. Paired with a comfy sweatshirt and a vest, leggings can transition from basic to fashion. The best part? These leggings can go from street to gym with a simple shirt change. My favorite leggings are from Old Navy’s active line. They are inexpensive, great quality, and they come in both petite and tall to fit every body type!

2. Plaid scarf and pleather leggings

Real leather is expensive and not stretchy at all, but you can rock the leather trend with these adorable faux leather leggings from Target’s new private label line. Wear them with a big sweater and a plaid scarf of practically any color. I chose a straight scarf, but a blanket scarf would work perfectly here as well.

3. Jean jacket and slip-on sneakers

Who knew a jean jacket could make a legging and t-shirt ensemble go from drab to trendy? They are comfortable, versatile, and most importantly for the spring semester, warm. Not to mention they are easily transferrable from season to season. Pair it with one of the many colors of Steve Madden slip-on sneakers for a much-needed pop of color!

4. Faux fur jacket and slouchy jeans

The most popular jeans this season are slouchy and frayed at the edges. These jeans from Free People are the perfect pair for this faux fur oversized coat. You may be in class, but you’ll feel like you’re wrapped up in a blanket. Plus, it has pockets!

5. Jeggings and trendy coat

Jeggings are stretchy and this classic tailored coat is perfect over a simple black sweater. They come in many different colors, patterns, and lengths, but this one is a plain gray wool coat. While a little more expensive, it is worth having a professional and stylish overcoat.

6. Activewear ensemble

It’s no secret that college students love sweatshirts. This front pocket sweatshirt from Athleta is super comfy and cozy, and pairs perfectly with a puffer vest of any color. Everyone also needs to invest in a high-quality pair of workout shoes. These Nike Frees are supporting and perfect for both working out and everyday wear.

7. Turtleneck and Converse

Another winter staple is the turtleneck sweater. The best kinds are the oversized sweaters that can be worn over both leggings and jeans. & Other Stories is slightly on the expensive side, but their garments are high quality and will last a long time. With an outfit staple such as this gray turtleneck, it is worth the extra money to find a high-quality piece that will last a few years.

8. Printed sweater and knee-high boots

Throwing on a printed sweater, whether its stripes, tribal prints or graphic design, is one of the simplest ways to make an interesting outfit. Paired with knee-high riding boots and either jeans or leggings, this outfit is sure to make you seem like you put in much more effort than you really did.

9. Cable-knit sweater and black jeans

This sweater from Nordstrom hits two winter trends; cable knits and pom poms. Paired with your favorite pair of black jeans, mine are from American Eagle, the pop of red is sure to get you noticed all while being comfortable. Make sure to get the stretchiest and most comfortable denim you can find!

10. Moto leggings and a camo jacket

Last but not least, pick up your favorite pair of moto leggings and pair it with your comfiest gray t-shirt. Throwing on a camouflage jacket will spice up your outfit without taking away the comfort. Each brand under Gap Inc. has a version of the moto legging, so decide how much you are willing to spend and go from there!
