Our Favorite (And Least Favorite) Looks From The 2017 Met Gala
The 2018 Met Gala will be held on May 7, so it is time to get hyped by reminiscing about last year’s event. The theme of the 2017 Gala was “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between,” which examines the career works of the Japanese fashion designer. While those in attendance can stick to the theme, which is based on something seen at the Met, they often go off the cuff. Here are a few looks from the 2017 Met Gala.
Our favorites
1. Aymeline Valade
While many women choose to wear a dress for the Met Gala, actress and model Aymeline Valade opted to wear a suit by Marni. This blue suit has outlined a chain pattern over the entire ensemble and looks flawless.
2. Lisa Love
Lisa Love looked classic. She opted to wear a skirt, but wore a long, sparkly black jacket and a bowtie, adding a masculine touch to a feminine outfit.
3. Megyn Kelly
Megyn Kelly stepped out in style in a stunning Altuzarra red and white floral dress. The dress fit the theme and the dress is flawless.
4. Keri Russell
Kerri Russell rocked the Met Gala in a gorgeous and low-cut Rag & Bone suit. It is bedazzled with a brooch and a ring, keeping the look minimalistic yet beautiful.
5. Blake Lively
Blake Lively looked amazing in a gold Versace dress with a blue and turquoise feather train. It was definitely one dress for the history books!
Our least favorites
1. Helen Lasichanh
Helen Lasichanh kept the theme by wearing a red one piece by in Comme des Garçons. However, it is not the greatest look. It has even been compared to the red Teletubby. Some of these looks from the 2017 Met Gala should not be copied. Ever.
2. Tracee Ellis Ross
Tracee Ellis Ross wore the theme designer, Comme des Garçons, the dress is not the most flattering dress for her. However, her shoes were fabulous, so they help towards redeeming the look!
3. Priyanka Chopra in Ralph Lauren
While this Ralph Lauren dress worn by Priyanka Chopra is not terrible, it is certainly not the best dress of the evening. It looks like a tan trench coat with a train.
4. Solange Knowles
Solange Knowles stepped out in an outfit by Thom Browne. It closely resembles a pool float, and it even has a long train.
5. Rihanna
While this outfit by Comme des Garçons fits the theme, it goes a bit overboard. The 3D floral design of the dress is larger than life and is a bit excessive.
