NYE Makeup Looks To Bring In The New Year

When you think of NYE makeup looks, you mind may automatically go to a chunky glitter shadow lid or a dark smokey eye. Yes those looks can be great for NYE, but if your looking for something a little less common, check out these NYE Makeup Looks To Bring In The New Year!

NYE is one of my favorite holidays when it comes to going all out with your outfit, makeup, hair and accessories. I have so many past memories of sitting down hours before a NYE party, trying to decide which eye makeup look I wanted to go for, but always found myself doing the classic cut crease with a shimmery lid. This year I wanted to think a little more out of the box when coming up with makeup looks to ring in the new year. Not only did I want to share some NYE makeup inspo photos, but also include the steps to follow to achieve these looks, as well as product recommendations.

1. The Iridescent Matte Look

When I find myself at the mall, I always go into Sephora or Ulta to check out new products that I definitely don’t need to spend money on, but end up getting something anyways. One of my favorite makeup products to test, pre Covid times, has always been different eyeshadow palettes. Testing eyeshadow is key before purchasing a palette because all though the colors may look pretty on the outside, it is so important to check the consistency and pigmentation. A fairly recent trend in shadow colors has been iridescent shades. Iridescent can be defined as showing luminous colors that seem to change when seen from different angles, which adds a stunning effect to the face, immediately drawing all attention to your eyes. The iridescent matte makeup look is really quite simple to recreate and requires limited products.

How to:

For the eye makeup, you want to be sure to prime your eyes before applying any shadow. You can use an eyeshadow primer, but liquid concealer set with translucent powder will also do the job. I recommend applying the matte iridescent shadow with a flat shader brush to get full pigmentation. Once your eye makeup is complete, finish off the look with some sparkly iridescent lip gloss!

2. The Natural Cream Products Look

Cream blush has recently became the next “it” product you need in your collection. Natural focused beauty brands like Glossier have promoted the no-makeup, makeup look achieved by using cream base products for your routine. This includes a cream contour stick, cream blush, and highlighter. This will give you the most glowy look, offering a fresh new take to NYE makeup. NYE is all about starting fresh, so why look the part?

How to:

Start by making sure your base is super prepped before makeup. This includes applying a lot of moisturizer and a non matte filling face primer. The more dewy your skin is the better. This will help you in your next step of applying foundation, if wanted, then applying a cream contour. After this, apply your cream blush and don’t be afraid to add a lot, as most of them blend in quite easily. Finish the rest of your routine and only set areas of the face where you applied concealer.

3. The Textured Rhinestone Look

So since it is NYE, I had to include some form of sparkly eye makeup, but not your basic, overdone look. This Euphoria inspired look is perfect for your NYE makeup, adding just the right amount of shine and texture without being too much. This look does require you to purchase a pack of rhinestones which is super inexpensive at any craft store.

How to:

Before you begin, make sure your rhinestone gems vary in different sizes to get the full effect. Start by doing a neutral eye look, such as with some light shades of brown in the crease and then a neutral toned shimmer. The main focus on this look is the eye decor, so don’t worry about your shadow being perfect. When applying the rhinestones I suggested using a small pair of tweezers with eyelash glue to make sure the rhinestones still stay on once the ball drops. Depending on your eye shape it will determine how many rhinestones needed. Arrange the gems along the shape of your crease, flicking them out similar to how a winged liner would be. Don’t forget to add them into the inner corner and under the lash line.

4. The Kylie Jenner Flawless Face Look

Kylie Jenner’s flawless face makeup has recently been trending all over social media, with beauty lovers revealing her makeup secrets to create this defined look. Whether her photos are touched up or not, you can still recognize the precise placement of each product that gives her this look. People have always complained about their makeup not coming out good, but I always tell them it’s not necessarily about the products themselves, but the way you apply them that makes such a noticeable difference.

How to:

Start off by applying your go to foundation with a damp beauty blender. Next, you will want to use a cream contour followed by your cream blush all before your concealer. Leaving the concealer to the end of your cream products is key to defining the face. When setting the makeup, Kylie’s secret is to set your under eyes with a pink toned powder versus the traditional translucent powder. This will draw attention straight to your eyes and make them pop. When you apply your powder blush, drag out the product to below the eyes and a little on the nose to get a sun kissed look.

5. The Colored Liner Look

If you have yet to experiment with colored eyeliner, it’s time you go pick up a pencil or cream liner to get this look perfect for your NYE makeup. If you are worried about neatly applying the liner, it is actually way easier than it looks if using a creamy enough product that will glide on with ease.

How To:

I actually suggest not priming your eyelids for this look, but allowing your natural eye oils to let the liner sink in. First, do your typical winged liner above the upper lash line. Next, you will want to line slightly above where your crease is so the line won’t disappear when you open your eye. Follow the shape, then flick out the end, slightly longer than your first wing.
