12 Notable Celebrity Feuds of 2020

In regards to celebrity feuds, the year 2020 saw some of these feuds escalate even further or produce new and sometimes unexpected ones. Some of these celebrity feuds played right before our eyes on social media. Others involved fights between former co-stars and/or celebrity exes.

Regardless, all of these celebrity feuds captured the attention of pop culture fans and had social media users refreshing their social media feeds to see the latest scoop.

Now, with all of that information being said, let’s take a look down below at the following 12 Most Notable Celebrity Feuds of 2020:

1. Megan Thee Stallion Vs. Tory Lanez:

Of all the celebrity feuds featured in this article, the most notable one is between rappers Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez, where in July 2020, it was reported that the latter shot the former in the foot. As Megan Thee Stallion received outpouring support from fans, Lanez denied that the shooting ever took place.

Eventually, Lanez was arrested and charged for the incident by the Los Angeles Police Department in October. If convicted, he faces up to almost 23 years behind bars. The same month that Lanez was arrested, Megan rapped about the incident in her song “Shots Fired”, one of the singles of her debut album.

2. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry vs. The Royal Family:

One of the biggest (and most surprising) celebrity feuds of 2020 occurred early in the year when Meghan Markle’s and Prince Harry’s bombshell announcement that they would be stepping down as senior members of the royal family. In the announcement, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also announced their plans of splitting their time between the England and Southern California (Markle was born and raised in Los Angeles), and to become financially independent.

The couple’s announcement sent many shockwaves around the world and during their final appearance as senior members of the Royal family, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, appeared to snub Meghan and Harry. Middleton’s snub fueled the rumors of the growing rift between Prince Harry and Prince William (Kate’s husband).

3. Lionel Messi vs. FC Barcelona:

Check out the video below for a detailed explanation on how the relationship between the Argentine Soccer Superstar and his longtime club (the only club other than Newell’s Boys (his boyhood club back in Argentina) that’s he’s played for) Newell’s Boys in went downhill over the summer. The drama sparked reactions from media outlets and people around the world.

4. Damian Lillard vs. Paul George & Patrick Beverly:

Some of the most notable celebrity feuds between NBA Players are as a result of events that occur during or after the game and can sometimes spill out on social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram. The feud between Portland Trailblazers Star Lillard and Clippers Players Paul George and Patrick Beverly started after the latter missed two crucial free throws that caused The Trailblazers to lose to The Clippers in a really close game. Beverly (who didn’t play due to a minor injury), along with teammate Marcus Morris, were seen laughing and celebrating on the bench.

The feud between all three players has been brewing for years and after the Trailblazers-Clippers game, we saw it the entire beef play out during the post-game interviews and on social media. The photo below is of the exchange on Instagram. Things got even more heated when Lillard’s sister La’Nae and George’s girlfriend Daniela got involved in a feud of their own on social media.

5. Alison Roman vs. Chrissy Teigen:

This celebrity feud happened after Alison Roman, a New York Times food columnist, criticized both Chrissy Teigen and Marie Kondo in an interview. In the interview, Roman called Teigen’s immediate success a “content farm”, to which Teigen responded with “I don’t think I’ve ever been so bummed out by the words of a fellow food-lover. I just had no idea I was perceived that way, by her especially. The backlash over Roman’s comments forced her to issue a public apology on Instagram.

6. Danielle “Bhad Barbie” Bregoli  vs. Skai Jackson:

Another one of the most notable celebrity feuds of 2020 that played out before our very eyes on social media includes that of rapper Danielle “Bad Bharbie” Bregoli and actress Skai Jackson. In February 2020, the rapper went on Instagram Live and threatened to kill Jackson. Bhad Barbie also  accused the actress of attempting date her exes as well as trying to be like her.

The threats caused Jackson to file (and eventually drop) a restraining order against Bhad Barbie. Click here to see this timeline of the crazy beef between the two young starlets on social media.

7. Nicki Minaj vs. Meek Mill:

Some of the most notable celebrity feuds are between celebrity exes. One notable pair of former flames who got into it in 2020 was Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill, who have not remained on the best terms after their breakup in 2016.

Twitter users saw the exes’ feud take another nasty turn on Twitter in February 2020 with Nicki accusing Meek of abuse and Meek accusing Nicki of defending her brother’s child rape accusations.

8. Chelsea Handler Vs. 50 Cent:

The second of the two celebrity feuds involving a former couple is that of comedian Chelsea Handler and rapper 50 Cent. The exes, who briefly dated in 2010, got into a Twitter feud in late October after the rapper announced his support for Trump. This wouldn’t be the only time that politics, especially the 2020 Presidential election, produced a feud between celebrities.

9. Ted Cruz vs. Mark Cuban:

One of the most unexpected celebrity feuds of 2020 was between two well-known Texans: Senator Ted Cruz and Dallas Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban. In October, the pair exchanged multiple barbs on Twitter over NBA Finals Viewership.

10. Jillian Michaels vs. Lizzo:

Fans were quick to defend Lizzo after the former The Biggest Loser personal trainer, during an appearance on BuzzFeed News‘ “AM to DM” asked (when the conversation turned to the subject over the plus-size singer), “Why are we celebrating (Lizzo’s) body?… Why does it matter? Why aren’t we celebrating her music? Cause it isn’t gonna be awesome if she gets diabetes.”

Although she mentioned she and her kids enjoy Lizzo’s music, Michaels, also stated, “But, there’s never a moment where I’m like, ‘And I’m so glad that she’s overweight.'” Many people, including celebrities like Whoopi Goldberg, accused Michaels, who later issued an apology, of fathoming the soon-to-be Grammy-winning artist.

11. President Donald Trump vs. NBA Players:

Due to his infamous Twitter rants, President Donald Trump has gotten into various feuds with various celebrities even before he got elected in 2016. This entire article could be about the most notable celebrity feuds between Trump and various public figures.

After being sworn in 2017, Trump has provoked more feuds with celebrities, especially professional athletes from the NBA. After Trump lost the election to former Vice President Joe Biden, the NBA players took to social media to express their joy over Trump’s defeat. For example, Lebron James posted this iconic photoshopped image below on Instagram and Twitter after Biden’s victory was confirmed.

12. Isaiah Washington vs. Katherine Heigl:

The feud between the former Grey’s Anthony co-stars was reignited after Washington, posted a tweet with a photo of Heigl on November 16, 2020 stating, ” “This woman once proclaimed that I should ‘never’ be allowed to speak publicly again,” he wrote. “The world agreed with her proclamation back then and protested for my job and my head in 65 languages. I wish I was on Twitter in 2007, because I will NEVER stop exercising my free speech.”

2007 is a reference to the year that Washington was terminated from the medical drama after reportedly uttering a homophobic slur toward co-star T.R. Knight, which Washington denied. Heigl, who has a close friendship with Knight, defended him multiple times after the incident happened. She famously told Access Hollywood, “I’m going to be really honest right now, he needs to just not speak in public. Period. I’m sorry, that did not need to be said, I’m not OK with it.”
