1. The Commoner

The Commoner is the new restaurant on the block. Leather couch interiors, muted forest colors and shiny brass details elevate the space. Old pictures and antiques are displayed giving a nice nod to the neighborhood’s historic past. One of the new restaurants on St. Clair near Joseph J. Piccininni Community Centre is Mercado Negro. Mostly a tapas restaurant, it boasts a menu with mainly Portuguese specialty foods like Alheira pudding or their famous francesinha sandwich. With items at a low price range and at a decent serving portion you can easily come in with a party of three or four and share a plate.
