If you’re like me, then you love neutral eyeshadow colors. I feel like they’re perfect for every eye color and can go with a variety of aesthetics, lifestyles, and situations. I mean, what other groups of eye shadow look great for your friend’s 21st birthday party but also would be the palette you turn to when getting ready for your job interview? So, whether you have been a long appreciator of neutral shades like me or are just looking for any and all excuses to head to Sephora, here’s a list of neutral eyeshadow colors that you need in your makeup bag.
If you are looking for a shade that literally goes with everything and every occasion, go with a matte nude. When I say it goes with everything I truly mean it. A nude shadow can be worn for any event and it just makes you look fresh-faced and put together. I like wearing a matte nude color as my typical everyday eyeshadow because it’s subdued but softens my eyes and makes them look distinguished. Also, because it’s a nude shadow, it will look perfect with any eye color. This is first on the list because it certainly is a color that everyone should have in their makeup bag.
For a color that definitely says you’re ready for an elegant party, go for a sparkly champagne shade. This neutral eyeshadow color is so popular that tons of makeup brands have their take on the shade, including Clinuqe, NARS, E.L.F., and MAC just to name a few. You could easily find this eye color from your favorite makeup brand with no problem. Also, as dressy as this shade is it’s also neutral enough to add a little sparkle to your “going to Target” outfit.
If you are looking for a warm, neutral eyeshadow color that really compliments brown eyes, go with a dark brown. This color also adds a bit of drama to your makeup look and helps to create a bold eye. If you’re looking for a warm, prominent look for those summer parties, then you really don’t need to look further than this color. It’s also a color that fits in perfectly with fall and winter due to its richness, but it also looks great in the summer because it’s a warm hue. Use this color in your “going out” look and all of your friends will shower you with compliments.
I see this color on Pinterest and Instagram all the time and it always looks amazing on blue eyes. I just feel like it compliments the brightness in blue eyes. That being said, I have worn this color numerous times and it looks great with my brown eyes, too. I think this color has risen to new popularity over the last couple of years and has found its place with the other true neutrals like tan and brown. It’s also a super posh color that reminds me of roses, dresses, and soft fabrics. So, honestly, I feel like it compliments and elevates my style whenever I wear it.
This neutral eye color is one of my favorites. It’s soft and neutral enough for a typical day of work and classes but it also translates great into a dressy eyeshadow color that would look great for a nice dinner out or popping neon lights. This eyeshadow can even pull triple duty and be perfect for an interview or a more professional setting because it looks subdued while still looking charming. It’s also just a good color to quickly put on just so you feel like you have your face together. I don’t know about you, but I always like to have at least some kind of soft makeup on. It’s my typical makeup style and it makes me feel more like myself. So, sparkly tan is just a great neutral eyeshadow everyone should have in general.
For another neutral eyeshadow color that definitely packs a punch go for a deep pink or rose-colored eyeshadow. I know some might not technically consider this eyeshadow color a neutral shade, but I think it looks amazing on everyone and every eye color. It also always seems to be in palettes with tons of neutral shades and it always looks great paired with other true neutral colors. A deep pink color is also perfect for a romantic look, whether it be sparkly or matte. So, this would also be a color to try out on your next date night.
If you are looking for a dark, smokey color, but one that could still be considered in the soft neutral family, a light grey will do the trick. This color looks astonishing on a night out with friends, but it also works for if you feel like you need a darker eye color or aesthetic for the day. If the grey eyeshadow color has a little bit of glitter in it, you have the perfect nighttime party look, in my opinion.
For another color that oozes summer, sunshiny days, and long nights, go with a peachy neutral shade. Like the fruit, the color is soft but can be rich and deep in color. This color is also another shade that I think you can wear all day and every day. It fits perfectly with your 9am class but also makes you look put together and fresh for your night job or afternoon internship. I think you definitely couldn’t go wrong with this color and it’s truly one that everyone should have in their makeup bag.
