Getting a cute design on your nails has become a huge trend this year. I love getting a good acrylic set done at the nail salon after searching for hours on Pinterest, but it can be hard to find ideas that really interest you after a while. Here are a few nail trends to complete your look for the summer that you’ll be obsessed with.
Sometimes with nail trends, you have to make up your own name for the design that you’re talking about. I named this one chaotic nails because each nail has a different design, so it’s a bit chaotic but still trendy and cute. You can get playful with these nail trends by picking a design such as a smiley face and then picking a color scheme to get all of your designs. Or you can get super wild with it and get a bunch of crazy designs in all different colors. It is truly up to you what you want to get with these nail trends because the whole point is to play with them and do whatever you want. Some designs can be checkerboard, yin yang symbols, smiley faces, squiggly lines, and four-leaf clovers. It’s the perfect way to try out so many nail designs that you thought you wouldn’t have time to get. Easy and effective, as it should be.
Once again, nail trends that I had to come up with a name for upon discovery. These warm-colored nails have such a summery vibe but are still simple enough that it won’t look like there’s too much happening. You get a swirl of three colors on your nails with a neutral base, for this look they chose warm colors like orange, pink and yellow. On one nail of your choice, those swirls form into a heart, which adds a fun little twist that most nail trends haven’t caught onto yet. You’ll be ahead of the game with these nails and you can switch up the colors to make it more your style if you want to.
Getting flames on your acrylic set is one of the biggest nail trends of the season. A clear coat with pink flames at the tops of your nails is a sassy take on your manicure that you didn’t know you needed. Outlining a pink flame with white makes them stand out more, and gives definition against the clear coat. You’ll feel like such an influencer with these nails and they aren’t too outlandish to get when you want to keep it simple with a bit of flare. It can’t get better than a colored flame over a neutral background. If you want to switch it up, get a light pink base with a hot pink flame and white. Add some glitter if you’re feeling especially crazy with it.
If you haven’t caught on to the recent nail trends, swirls are just so in right now and it’s no secret why. You can really match anything with a simple swirl design, so getting them just on the tips of your nails is a great option. It’s a pretty simple-looking design that can alternate colors or just be all the same. The creative freedom you get with nails like these is insane, so don’t be scared to go off-grid with it and switch up the colors and frequency of the design. You want to make sure you’re not just settling for these designs, but you actually will be obsessed with them when you leave the salon.
If you haven’t heard of nail trends involving flash glitter, then don’t worry I only knew because I stumbled upon them accidentally at my salon at school. Essentially, the nail polish goes on as one color of glitter but appears to change color when you take a flash photo of them. It’s such a fun surprise and a cool conversation starter if (and when) someone compliments your manicure. For example, I got a silver glitter color, which is a very full coverage glitter and appears solid almost, and it had hints of orange and gold in it when taking a flash photo. It’s super cool and different from what a lot of people are getting right now. Plus there are all types of colors offered, with probably some really cool flash results.
My newest obsession out of all the nail trends out there is matte nails. I currently have matte olive green nails and I feel like such a baddie that I won’t ever go back. Getting matte nails is a good way to switch things up without getting anything too crazy or even having to go on Pinterest for ideas. Just think of a color you like to get or would like to get and the matte topcoat will do all of the work for you. Matte works with just about any nail color you want and looks sleek with any outfit you conjure up in the meantime. I don’t see a better option for those who just want it to be simple and sexy but different from the usual glossy polish manicure you’ve grown tired of. Try mixing matte nails with pastel colors for more of a summery vibe with your manicure, also stiletto and almond shapes look amazing with matte nails.
While some nail trends have names that can confuse you such as “Chaotic Nails,” this one is pretty self-explanatory. Ask for a regular french manicure with white tips, but have them add some black thin squiggly lines for a monochromatic abstract artistic design that spices up a classic look. If you want to get really weird with it, have on of the nail tips be painted black with thin white squiggly lines to offer up some contrast and some flare to your nail design. It is classy, so you can wear them to functions or work without worrying about your insane nails distracting everyone or making you look unprofessional. However, you’ll look so cute with them and they’re still a fun manicure design that makes you feel confident.
