K-Dramas are popular for their great storylines and how they are executed. There are so many amazing k-dramas out there but here are our list of top 10 must-watch k-dramas!

1. City Hunter

An action-packed drama with a romantic storyline, this is on our list of must-watch K-dramas for its gripping and intense scenes. Based on a Japanese manga of the same name, the storyline focuses mainly on the protagonist Lee Yoon-Sung (Lee Min Ho) who avenges his father’s killer.

With the president being one of his targets, he meets bodyguard Kim Na-Na (Park Min Young) and along the way falls in love with her. A series of complications and obstacles take place as the story unfolds and has viewers wanting more after each episode.

2. Boys Over Flowers

A comedy with a romantic storyline, this K-drama is also based on a popular Japanese manga of the same name. Set in a high school, the popular group F4 lead by Gu Jun-pyo (Lee Min Ho) and his friends are to be feared due to their power and rich backgrounds. 

Geum Jan-di (Ku Hye-Sun) receives a swimming scholarship to the same school due to saving a student from committing suicide. Not understanding the obsession with F4, her run-ins with the group are unpleasant but as the drama progress, Jun-Pyo begins to fall in love with her despite their difference in backgrounds.

3. You’re Beautiful

This K-drama is all about a set of twins hoping to find their mother. Ko Min-nyeo (Park Shin-hye), poses as her twin brother Ko Mi-nam while he is off to the US to fix his botched plastic surgery. Mi-nam has been accepted to join the music band A.N. Jell but Min-Nyeo steps in for a month while Mi-nam recovers.

The other bandmates don’t warm to Min-nyeo at first but over time they start to enjoy her company. The leader Tae-kyung finds out Min-nyeo is posing as a man and at first threatens to expose her but decides to keep quiet and eventually starts to fall in love with her.

4. Coffee Prince

Coffee Prince is a hilarious K-drama with romance and drama. This K-drama’s storyline is about an irresponsible bachelor Choi Han-gyul (Gong Yoo) who is given a coffee shop by his grandmother to show he can be responsible.

Han-gyul only hires attractive young men to work at the coffee shop and it is only when Eun-chan (Yoon Eun-hye) who is a tomboy, dresses up like a boy to secure a job at the coffee shop that their paths cross. Han-gyul falls in love with Eun-chan and starts to question his sexuality but eventually finds out that she is actually a female.

5. Dream High

Dream High is on our list of must-watch K-dramas for its mix of romance, comedy and coming-of-age themes.

Focusing on 6 high school students at Kirin High School and their dreams of becoming idols in the music industry. This K-drama follows their school years and their progress to fulfilling their dreams and along the way, the relationships they develop with each other.

A star-filled cast with in-real-life idols including Miss A’s Suzy, 2PM’s Taecyeon and Wooyoung and IU to name a few, this is a must-watch for those who are looking for a heartwarming K-drama.

6. Descendants Of The Sun

This is a K-Drama that received immense popularity and for good reason. Descendants Of The Sun revolves around the story of Yoo Shi-jin (Song Joong-ki) who is a captain for the Korean Special Forces. 

He meets Dr. Kang Mo-Yeon (Song Hye-Kyo) and they start dating. They begin to realise their moral differences in their jobs and soon decide to part ways. An earthquake and viral endemic later reunites them and obstacles test their new-found relationship.

7. Strong Girl Bong-Soon

This K-drama made it onto our list of The Top 10 Must-Watch K-Dramas and rightly so. Strong Girl Bong-Soon is about a girl Do Bong-soon (Park Bo-young) who has superhuman strength which is hereditary.

She tries to become more ladylike and elegant which is the ideal type of her crush In Guk-doo (Ji Soo) and later finds herself becoming a bodyguard for CEO Ahn Min-hyuk (Park Hyung-sik) who hired her after seeing her beat up some guys.

Min-hyuk has been receiving death threats so Bong-soon decides to use her powers to do good. Kidnapping cases occur more frequently which motivate her to find the culprit. The relationship between Bong-soon and Min-hyuk becomes stronger and grows into something more.

8. My Love From The Star

My Love From The Star is a romantic, fantasy K-drama about Do Min-joon (Kim Soo-hyun) who is an alien that has landed on Earth in 1609. He missed his trip back to his home planet as he tried to help a young girl from falling off a cliff and is now stranded on Earth for 4 centuries.

Changing his identity every ten years, he is now a college professor. Three months before he goes home, he meets his next door neighbour Cheon Song-yi (Jun Ji-hyun) who starts to fall in love with her.

9. Pinocchio

Pinocchio has an unusual storyline which is even more reason why this is one of the must-watch K-dramas! The protagonist Ki Ma-Hyung (Lee Jong Suk) lives a happy life until his father who is captain of the firefighting squad dies in a rescue attempt along with other members of the squad. 

Following this, the family receive criticism from the community and blame Ma-Hyung’s father for the deaths of the other members. His mother tries to kill herself and Ma-hyung by jumping off a cliff but survives. 

Saved by a man who believes he is his son who died thirty years earlier, he is taken in by him and lives with his granddaughter In-Ha (Park Shin-hye) who has Pinocchio Syndrome – whenever she lies, she hiccups. As the drama progresses, both parties find out more about each other’s true backgrounds which lead to unexpected events.

10. Healer

Healer revolves around three main characters who are brought together by an incident that happened ten years ago involving five friends who ran an illegal pro-democracy broadcasting station during the Fifth Republic in South Korea.

The three main character involve illegal ‘night courier’ (Ji Chang-wook) who has amazing fighting skills also had the codename ‘Healer’, a reporter from a tabloid news website (Park Min-young) and a journalist from a broadcast station (Yoo Ji-hae). 

Together, they try to uncover the truth from the incident that took place 10 years before and in doing so, they become true reporters and overcome the battle between truth and fate.
