Chicago has plenty of hidden treasures as well as several must-try desserts. People born with a sweet tooth that simply give them a deep craving for sweets. Those with a sweet tooth know just how exciting it is to go to birthday parties to get free cake or when Halloween comes and you get all the candy you’ve ever wished for. However, you do not have to wait to give yourself the pleasure of indulging in delicious sweets.
Must-try desserts are great to have at any season. Whether it is summer or winter these must-try desserts can really make your day. Over time I have collected a list of must-try desserts that simultaneously brightens and cheers up your day.

My favorite is the strawberry and banana simply because of the contrasting flavor of the sour-like strawberries and the sweeter bananas. Once the crêpe is prepare it is covered with hot chocolate that adds flavor to it.
2. Sprinkled donuts from “Doughnut Vault”
The sprinkled donuts from “Doughnut Vault” are something out of this world. The donuts here are moist that will really have you thinking that you are eating a slice of cake. The frosting on the donuts is thick and does not become sticky.
3. Tres leches cake from “Kristoffer’s Cakes”
Tres leches cake are one of the sweetest Mexican desserts. This cake is so sweet for the very reason that it is made with so much layers of flavor like vanilla extract, sweetened condensed milk, and evaporate milk.
4. Hot Chocolate from “BomboBar”
Winter in Chicago is absolutely brutal. The best place to get something sweet and warm will be at “Bombobar.” You will find the most generous serving of sweets and hot chocolate here. Never before had I ever been served hot chocolate with a donut and ice cream. A very pleasant treat to endure such cold weather.
5. Gelato from “Amorino Chicago”
Ice is the best at “Amorino Chicago.” The color of the ice cream does not look artificial and the flavors taste natural. The texture of the ice cream is butter and smooth. “Amorino Chicago” is also generous with their servings and creative with their signature styles. They are known to include macarons in their ice cream which makes life just a little bit sweeter.
6. Cupcakes from “Sprinkles”
Nothing is cuter than a cupcake vending machine. “Sprinkles” has made its own signature style that has made it stand out from all other cupcake places. You are able to get your own cupcakes in a cute and small boxes that are both neat and whimsical.
7. German chocolate cupcake from “Skinny Piggy”
German chocolate cupcakes are one of my favorite cupcakes to get simply because of the bits of chocolate that are put on top. This German chocolate cupcake gives you a good amount of chocolate so as to make it a memorable dessert.
8. Nutella Crêpes from the “Nutella Cafe”
The “Nutella Cafe” offer a delicious variety of crêpe pancakes that you will not believe are made with their nutella. These crêpe pancakes could be eaten during the morning or afternoon pretty much anytime you are craving something sweet.
9. Bean Paste Buns from “Chiu Quon”
If you were venture in Chicago’s Chinatown you will find that there are a variety of traditional Chinese and Korean restaurants you are try out. Chinese bakeries offer something completely different and unique, everything from the ingredients used in the pastries, the techniques used, and the visual presentation. A classic Chinese pastry are the bean paste buns that is memorable because of the inside filling and the outside of the buns that is extremely tender. I believe the inside of the buns are made with red beans.
10. Churros from “Xurro Factory”
Churros are one of the sweetest Mexican Desserts you will find. Churros are to me considered a dessert simply because churros are really sweet. Churros are literally covered in sugar and you can have them covered in any toppings of your choice. You can also get creative here at “Xurro Factory” because you can either have them with ice cream or smores. This “Xurro Factory” is also located at Navy Pier. So you can enjoy a delicious desserts while your time at a ferris wheel or walk around and enjoy the view of the lake.
