10 Must-Haves For Your Tote Bag

Having a tote bag around your shoulder when you’re out-and-about can be super convenient! Tote bags are larger than purses and have more room to hold all your daily essentials. From AirPods to disposable cameras, check out our comprehensive list of all your tote bag essentials!

1. Sunglasses

This may be more of an obvious item on the list, but you have to keep sunglasses in your bag at all times! You never know when the sun is gonna be pesky for your eyes while you’re out on the town or driving your car. It can never hurt to have some sort of protection on hand when this happens. Aside from convenience, sunglasses are also a simple way to add some style to your outfit! You can shield your eyes, and have a fashionable accessory in your tote for when you need to add some spice to your look.

2. AirPods

Even if you don’t own AirPods, you should keep headphones of any sort in your tote bag. This is especially prevalent if you’re walking through the city or having a slow day at work. Headphones are going to add some background to your life and keep you occupied while you shop, destress, or simply have a break in your day! Find some new albums to listen to and put them on your playlist, or pull up an entertaining podcast to keep you busy. You can also use your headphones to watch a movie or TV show while you’re at the gym working out. Regardless of when you use them, you can’t go wrong by packing them just in case.

3. Hand Lotion

Nobody wants dry hands. Walking around with your skin cracking isn’t an appealing feeling, so consider adding hand lotion to your tote bag! This is especially helpful if you find yourself washing your hands a lot throughout the day or live in a colder city. Having hand lotion will leave your skin feeling soft and smooth, and you’ll be thanking yourself later when you don’t have to worry about dryness. Plus, your friends and peers will find it super helpful when you offer it to them!

4. Hair Clip

If your hair gets in the way throughout the day, you’ll definitely want to add a hair clip to your tote bag. There are tons of cute ways you can style your hair using a clip rather than an elastic. There are also various cute designs when it comes to clips, including different shapes and colors. Get creative and grab a unique hair clip the next time you go shopping! This will add both a stylish look as well convenience to your life.

5. Lip Balm

Whether you notice it or not, it’s likely that you’re licking your lips throughout the day. To prevent them from drying out or becoming chapped, be sure to add some sort of lip balm to your tote bag. This can be a hydrating chapstick or even a skin salve. Aside from just lip balm, it wouldn’t hurt to add some of your favorite lip products as well! Consider adding gloss or lipstick, just in case you want to add color to your lips and make them stand out. This will be super helpful if you’re already wearing a certain product so that you can reapply throughout the day as you eat and drink and it begins to come off.

6. Mints/Gum

Having bad breath is a turn-off, especially if you’re eating something with onions or garlic in it throughout the day. To prevent this, make sure you put mints or gum in your tote bag before you leave for the day. If you’re sipping coffee or eating a snack, you’ll want to come out on the other side with fresh breath. This will help you to feel more confident when you’re speaking to people along with getting rid of any bitter or leftover tastes in your mouth. When it comes to gum, consider grabbing a sugar-free option to keep your teeth looking and feeling healthy!

7. Hand Sanitizer

Throughout the day, you never know when your hands are going to come into contact with something sticky or just downright messy and gross. It wouldn’t hurt to pack hand sanitizer to combat this! Hand sanitizer is going to leave your hands feeling healthy and fresh. Apply it throughout the day to get rid of extra germs, or use it when your hands touch something gross. You’ll be grateful you brought it along in the long-run.

If you’re someone who likes to capture all the best memories on film, be sure to add a disposable camera to your tote bag! You’ll definitely want this when you’re going out with friends. It wouldn’t hurt to take some pics to cherish your best moments. Even if you’re going out alone, you may find something interesting or eye-catching that you want to get on film. Regardless of how you use it, a disposable camera is going to come in handy when you feel some creative inspiration or see something cool.

9. Book and/or Notebook

There may be moments in your day where you’ll want to write something down, or maybe even moments of boredom when you need something to look at. Consider bringing a book, notebook, or both! Having a book will be nice for those lulls when you have some free time and want to enrich yourself with literature. If you’d rather write, bringing a notebook wouldn’t hurt either. You can create spontaneous journal entries or even just write about your day or feelings. Both these items are therapeutic for different reasons.

10. Crystals

For added clarity and energy, put your favorite crystals in your tote bag! Crystals are great for many reasons. They heal, ward off negative energy, and manifest. If you aren’t too sure about the benefits of crystals, consider doing your research or checking out this article for more insight. Crystals are great to hold in your hands, as they can soothe your stress and anxiety. However, even just keeping them in your tote bag can help you manifest positive energy to carry along throughout the day. Keep your mindset on track by putting a couple of these in your bag.
