Music festivals are one of the best summer activities: but what festivals have the best lineups? The worst you can do is go to basically the exact same festival but in a different city (because let’s be honest, tickets aren’t cheap). So here’s 10 music festivals (mostly) in North America that have epic lineups for all your music genre needs, plus a little extra depending on where you go.
This famous Chicago festival runs from August 1st-4th and with Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino, Twenty One Pilots and Lil Wayne (to name a few) it looks like this year will be an epic one.
Running from the 2nd-4th of August, Osheaga is Montreal’s famous eclectic music and arts festival that features the Lumineers, Hozier, Janelle Monae, and much more.
Being one of the most famous music festivals in human history is a hard rep to keep up for this New York festival, but it’s certainly going all out for its 50th Anniversary. With names such as the Killers, Miley Cyrus, Santana, Chance the Rapper, Jay-Z, Halsey, Imagine Dragons and the Black Keys, this festival will be legendary. Make sure to buy tickets from August 16th-18th.
If you can afford to travel to Somerset, England, this festival is an experience of a lifetime. With musicians like Radiohead, Ed Sheeran, Lorde, Foo Fighters and Katy Perry, you’ll have the weirdest (and best) time of your life. Tickets are currently sold out but make sure to check in for general admission for June 26th-30th.
This Toronto festival is a crazy 10-day annual summer festival and conference, featuring music, gaming, comedy and more. With its festival lineup TBD, NXNE currently has headliners Haviah Mighty and Persons to head up its club section. Make sure to check out more news for the festival, running June 7th-16th.
Known as Canada’s premiere Electronic Music Festival, Shambala is British Columbia’s biggest outdoor music festival and its lineup lives up to the name: with Anti Up, Zeds Dead and Kaskade to name a few, it seems like this festival, running August 9th-12th, will be a hell of a time. Plus, make sure to check out all of the extra acts this festival has to offer (including some really sick carnival rides).
Another New York festival, Governor’s Ball is known for its pull in getting big artists: and this year, it doesn’t disappoint. With Tyler the Creator, Florence + the Machine, the 1975, and Lil Wayne headlining, you’ll want to head down for this festival, running May 31st to June 2nd.
Centred in Golden Gate Park in San Fransisco, this festival is one huge, sunny party. Running from August 9th-11th, it’s headliners include Paul Simon, Childish Gambino, Blink 182, and Twenty One Pilots. Plus, who doesn’t want to spend a weekend in San Fransisco?
Known as the big prairie sound, this EDM Festival sits right in the heart of Calgary, Alberta, where the weather may be a little brutal, but the lineup could never be better. With the Chainsmokers, Above & Beyond, Alesso and Steve Aoki headlining, this festival is going to be insane. Just make sure to bring a poncho.
Last but certainly not least, Bottlerock runs from May 24th-26th in Napa Valley, California and its headliners have never been cooler. With Imagine Dragons, Neil Simon, Mumford & Sons, Pharrell Williams, One Republic and even Jeff Goldblum (yeah, you heard us right) this is an experience you can’t miss out on.
