8 Mug Meals Any College Student Can Make In A Microwave

Mug meals are the best easy meal for al college students. All you need is access to these simple ingredients, and of course, a microwaveable mug which could be as simple as the one you use for coffee. Here are some options to make for a fast breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or midnight snack!

First things first, make sure you have a clean mug, preferably a bigger one that will be able to fit all the goods. Now let’s look at a few recipes!

Breakfast

Here are a few great mug meals you can make for breakfast.

Ham and Cheese Omelet

Here’s what else you will need:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp of milk
  • Cheese (any kind you like)
  • 1 slice of thick-cut ham
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Dash of oil (it’ll keep the egg from sticking)

Directions:

  1. Start by whisking the eggs and milk together thoroughly until smooth. Cut the ham into small cubes or small slices if that’s how you prefer then add the oil, ham, and cheese. Mix until the cheese and ham have separated throughout. Note – the cheese and ham will try and sink to the bottom so get it in the microwave quickly!
  2. Cook the omelet in the microwave for 2 minutes 30 seconds to 3 minutes on high. Enjoy!
  3. Note – everyone’s microwaves work differently so make sure to check to see if the egg is cooked all the way through before getting started on it so you are not surprised if it’s not completely done. You can use a fork around the edges of the omelet and tilt the cup to the side to see if it’s still runny.

Chocolate Chip Pancakes

Here’s what you will need:

  • 3 tbsp of pancake mix
  • 1 tbsp of milk (or water if that’s what the mix calls for)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp of vanilla
  • 1 tbsp of chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Mix ingredients together well, adding more milk (or water) or pancake mix as needed to the desired thickness. Now here you can coat the mug with a little butter, maybe oil if you like so the pancake doesn’t stick to the mug.
  2. Timing and microwaves vary but start with 1 minute to 1 minute 30 seconds to start.
  3. Top with honey, syrup, whipped cream, or strawberries! It’s your recipe, go with what you want! Then, enjoy it!
  4. To make sure the pancake is cooked stick your fork in to see if it comes out clean then you’re ready to go!
  5. Note – If you’re vegan the suggested wet ingredient is water in place of milk and instead of chocolate chips maybe blueberries or just plain if you like!
