10 Movies You Need To Watch If You’re Feeling Bored

Movies can be a great way to escape boredom through adventure, fun, laughter, and overall great stories. If movies resonate with you and your perspectives well, then it can be easy to connect and relate to great characters thus drawing you into those movies more and more. Everyone has their own tastes and preferences when it comes to movies (some don’t like watching movies or TV at all and that’s okay too!) but it’s good to have an open mind about new movies. You never know if you find a new genre that you now actually love, or your new favorite movie series. Related disclaimer: These movies on this list are based on personal experience and preferences, as well as trying to accommodate for many different people. These aren’t my top favorite movies of all time (well, some of them are) and these aren’t the greatest movies of all time either; this is just supposed to be a list of good movies that if you haven’t seen, you probably should. Anyway, here are 10 movies you need to watch if you’re feeling bored!

1. Forest Gump

Forest Gump is easily near the top on the list for greatest movies of all time, barely anyone would object that. Tom Hanks movies are usually amazing but this one, in particular, is fantastic. Forest Gump is described as “slow-witted” but that doesn’t stop him from having the most incredible life full of adventures, traveling, and accomplishments. Without spoiling too much, his stories include but aren’t limited to, dominating the football field, also dominating in ping pong, serving in the military, and being one incredible runner. This will easily make your all-time favorite movies list and cure that boredom immediately.

2. Indiana Jones

The Indiana Jones movies make great cures for boredom at any time! There are four movies total (although you can skip the last one with Shia LaBeouf) and each one is a fun, unique, action-packed adventure. Indiana Jones is an archeologist who part-time teaches at a university, and also goes on adventures around the world to recover long-lost artifacts for museums. Of course, there’s usually another party looking to get that same artifact as well for selfish reasons so naturally Indiana needs his revolver and whip. Plus, the studly Harrison Ford is an added benefit to all you ladies out there. If you’ve never seen an Indiana Jones adventure then stop missing out and find one of those amazing movies.

3. Home Alone

Although Home Alone is a Christmas movie it can always be enjoyed no matter the season! The story of an eight-year-old who accidentally gets left home alone when his wealthy family goes on vacation. When two burglars try to rob his mansion of a house, and the phone lines are down, he realizes he’s the only one left to defend his home. It’s a hilarious movie with great acting that is fun for the whole family! Easy choice for any list of classic movies to watch either for Christmas or just when you need a good laugh.

4. Jurassic Park

Easily the most well-known in dinosaurs movies for its great acting, fantastic animatronics, and amazing story. Jurassic Park, the original- not Jurassic World (although those are good in their own sense but better having seen the originals), tells the story of how science has allowed us to recreate dinosaurs using ancient dinosaur DNA found in fossilized mosquitos combined with other DNA such as frogs. The scientists then create a theme park of such featuring a number of different dinosaurs for the public to pay handsomely to come and witness the long-extinct creatures. Without spoiling too much, let’s just say others are highly invested in the dinosaur creation technology as well and it’s safe to assume some dinosaurs may escape. It’s a fantastic series of movies that any sci-fi fan should add to their go-to list of classic movies!

5. Shrek

If you prefer more light-hearted and hilarious movies then Shrek may be more up your alley. The animated, Pixar tale of an ogre paired with a hilariously annoying talking donkey on an adventure to reclaim his swamp from the nearby Lord. It’s an instant classic with its hilarious writing that gives both Shrek and Donkey great and loveable characters. A must-see for both the hilarity and fun adventures that follow Shrek and Donkey.

The Truman Show is a Jim Carrey classic that you should see if you like movies that mess with your head a bit. It’d be better to not spoil anything about this movie because its twists and turns are so good you’ll be thinking about them over the next few days. Let’s just say Jim Carrey and his quaint, small-town life isn’t exactly what he thinks it is!

Another amazing and classic of “family fun” adventure movies is definitely the Goonies! This follows a group of kids that find a treasure map and hope to uncover riches to prevent one of them from having to move away due to financial trouble. 8. Pulp Fiction

Pulp Fiction is a tad different from most movies on this list as it’s pretty intense and vulgar. However, it’s a Quentin Tarantino masterpiece and can be rewatched over and over again. 9. Harry Potter

As a name known around the entire world it was hard not to put Harry Potter on this list. If you’ve never read or seen Harry Potter then I’m one of very many who would have to say, “Oh well you have to immediately.” It’s an incredible story in a world of magic following a powerful wizard Harry Potter and his friends as they struggle to balance passing their wizard classes at the magic school Hogwarts, with saving said school and the other students from some new danger every year. If you’ve never seen them then start at the beginning and work your way up through the eight movies for an incredible 15+ hours of magical fun. The books are also incredible and have some differences from the movies so it’s worth both reading them all and seeing all the movies!

10. Superbad

Superbad can simply be described as one of the most hilarious movies of all time. Yes, it is incredibly raunchy and not suitable for children. But this story following Jonah Hill and Michael Cera as nerdy best friends and high school seniors who can’t justify going off to college as virgins. Not just that but they want to have a night of drinking and partying as opposed to playing video games in their parent’s basement. This amazing movie also features the famous “McClovin” and if you don’t know what that is then turn this movie on immediately. If you like these kinds of movies and humor, you absolutely will not be disappointed.
