10 Movies to Rely On When You Can’t Decide What to Watch
What’s the worst thing that can happen when you and your squad or you and bae cosy up with a bunch of snacks? You can’t decide on what to watch. You can’t choose a film, you can’t even decide on a genre. You start half-heartedly browsing through Netflix coming to absolutely no conclusions. Wouldn’t it be great if someone could just put together a list of fall-back movies that you could always rely on when you can’t decide what to watch? Oh wait, they have! Check out some of the movies to rely on that will have you laughing, crying or getting goosebumps when you need it, on demand.
1. Stand By Me
What could band you and your mates closer together than this movie? Funny and heartfelt, potentially one of my favourite movies of all time. So maybe I’m biased. But who couldn’t love this movie, especially accompanied by the fabulous Ben E. King Stand By Me as the main song on the movies soundtrack. You can always rely on this movie when you can’t decide what to watch.
2. Gladiator
“My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius…” iconic. And the ending will probably make you cry. If you’re not crying at the end you haven’t been watching carefully enough. Get behind Russell Crow in this gladiator fighting movie. A top pick every time. I’ve got to ask you, “are you not entertained?” We give it a thumbs up even if Commodus doesn’t.
3. Mean Girls
I’d never reduce these movies to rely on by categorising it as merely a “chick flick.” This movie is so much more. Possibly one of the most quotable and quoted movies of our generation. You’ll still be screaming Kevin G every time. Who hasn’t tried to re-enact that Christmas dance scene? This pick honestly never lets you down; a comedy, a chick flick, a drama and a Christmas movie all in one. Suitable for any occasion.
4. SAW
I mean it’s got to be done. You can slowly work your way through all 8 movies. Play every game with Jigsaw until the end. Rely on this movie when you can’t decide what to watch and you fancy a thrill. It’s gory but I’d say it’s not too scary for your friends that really hate a horror.
5. Moana
This recent Disney classic has made huge waves with the movies to rely on. Ha get it. No but seriously, Disney have pulled another one out the bag. Appealing to both adults and kids, so the fact it’s a cartoon won’t stop you watching this in your uni house. This movie has hilarious characters such as the chicken HeiHei. Moana herself is a total badass and… *preventing spoiler alert* well you better watch it to find out! A happy movie to put on and one to rely on when you can’t decide what to watch.
6. Halloween 1978
You cannot beat a classic. Even if you only use this to rely on every Halloween, this is a fail-safe. A scary movie with a plot… what! Bet you didn’t think it was possible. But it is. This movie also has an awesome suspense filled soundtrack. Throw it back to the 70s and be prepared to get your goosebumps on.
8. Superbad
The go to movie if you need cheering up. A comedy to rely on when you can’t decide what to watch. It works every time. You’re old enough right? Old enough to party! I McLuvin this movie.
9. Batman Begins
As iconic as the Joker and Bane are, this movie is the forgotten gem of this trilogy. Make sure you get the full understanding of Christian Bale’s batman by re-watching the foundation movie. I think this movie feels like it reveals something new to the story every time you watch it. It also seems to get better every time. Check it out.
10. Harry Potter
Any. Of. Them. One of the best set of movies ever. And there’s 8 movies to choose from. The magical world of Harry Potter is always reliable when you really have no idea what to watch.
