8 Motivational Methods You Need To Know To Tackle Mondays
It’s the dreaded Sunday night and it’s Monday tomorrow or you’ve woken up on a Monday morning and you are anything but motivated. Work can be draining and your motivation is out the window every time Sunday nights come around. If you are looking for ways to be motivated, you’ve come to the right place. Check out our list of 8 motivational methods you need to know to tackle Mondays below.
1. Prepare the night before
Preparation is key to making sure you start your Mondays off on the right foot. There’s nothing worse than rushing around and being in danger of being late for work on a Monday morning and having to deal with your boss first thing before you even make it to your desk.
Take the time to choose an outfit carefully rather than leaving it last minute on Monday morning where you just throw anything on. Remember: looking good, feeling good!
2. Do a workout/stretches before you get ready for work
This is one of the best motivational methods as you’ll release endorphins and instantly improve your mood for Mondays. You’ll feel ready to take on the day and whatever is thrown at you.
You’ll also be able to get rid of those aches and pains if you didn’t quite get a good night’s sleep.
3. Eat a healthy breakfast
Rather than just grabbing a piece of toast that you eat on your way to work, make sure to prepare your breakfast the night before or take the time to eat your breakfast rather than on the go.
You’ll have time to digest it and taking the time to eat your breakfast will last you until lunch and keep you going.
4. Make a to-do list
Take things step by step rather than throwing yourself into the deep end. You’ll be able to achieve things better by taking things slowly. Take a breath and make a list of what needs to be done in order of importance. This will give you the motivation to complete everything you need to do.
As you complete each task of what needs to be done, you’ll find yourself ticking things off the list without knowing it. At the end of the day, you’ll feel a sense of accomplishment and that your day has been constructive.
5. Make a motivational song playlist
If you wake up still half-asleep on Mondays and you drag yourself to the bathroom, why not create a motivation song playlist to lift your mood? This is one of the motivational methods that will help your mental state and in turn, will improve your physical state.
Just like how a certain song can remind you of happy or sad memories, play this to your strength by picking songs that immediately put you in a good mood.
6. Treat yourself
If the idea of making a to-do list and tackling every task on that list doesn’t give you enough motivation (number 6), treat yourself when you overcome an obstacle.
Finished that really long report your boss was asking for? Treat yourself to a glass of wine when you get home. Finally got that presentation over and done with that you were really dreading? Go ahead and treat yourself to those shoes that you had your eye on. This will motivate you to work for a reward.
7. Switch off/avoid distractions
If you’re easily distracted, switch off or avoid distractions. Being constantly glued to your phone to check your social media can make it harder for you to do what you’re actually meant to be doing. Turn it off and lock it in your drawer until your break or when you finish work and you might find that you get a lot more done.
Without distractions, you’ll focus more on the task(s) at hand and will find you’ll get into the swing of things and before you know it, the day is done.
8. Surround yourself with people who are motivated
There is always at least one person you know that is just always happy and on the go or that one person who just loves Mondays. Surround yourself with these people as their mood and energy are infectious and you’ll soon find yourself starting to warm up to Mondays.
