The Most Popular Foods From Around The World That’ll Blow Your Mind

Sometimes the usual foods just don’t cut it. Burgers, fries, chips and sandwiches are nice but with all these cuisines around the world, why not try something else for a change? Luckily, many other countries supply that change with unique, dynamic and local flavors that’ll satisfy your next craving. You’ll have to check out these popular foods from around the world!

Tzatziki (Greece)

Starting off on a dairy-filled note, the classic Mediterranean yogurt sauce: Tzatziki. Tzatziki is a creamy delight that goes well on pita chips, flatbread and really anything you want to sweeten up in a healthy way. And don’t worry if you’re lactose-intolerant cause dairy-free recipes are available online so you can enjoy this tasty treat as well!

Hummus (the Middle East)

Despite being snubbed for many years, Hummus has only recently been given the spotlight and for good reason. A popular dish in Israel, Hummus showcases some of the best the chickpeas the world has to offer. It’s creamy and healthy and full of flavor, pairing well with flatbread, vegetables and…

Falafel (the Middle East)

Also popular in Israel, and also made with chickpeas, falafel is a small but tasty dish that, whether in a pita or as a separate dish, is delicious no matter where you are. With hummus or tzatziki, it makes a Mediterranean platter perfect for parties or for enjoyment with friends.

Korma (South Asia)

Popular in India and Nepal, Korma dishes, whatever meat they use, are a great example of Himalayan flavors. The spicy, creamy sauce which distinguishes them is worth the time and energy it takes to make it or order it. Like many foods from the area, it’s a unique taste that won’t be to everyone’s liking. But for those who do, you’ll never forget the first time you had it.

Spätzle (Germany)

Do you like eggs? How about noodles? If you said yes to both, then spätzle, also spelled spaetzle, is the perfect dish for you. Popular in Munich, spätzle works with every meal. It’s eggy-ness makes it wonderful as a breakfast; it’s noodly-ness makes it a great dinner. And with melted cheese on top? Now, that’s a special dish that every age group is bound to enjoy.

What’s better than shrimp and vegetables? Shrimp and vegetable tempura, that is. Although deep fried, tempura is tasty enough and crunchy enough that, even if you’re counting calories, it might be worth the splurge every once in a while. Don’t pass this one up, but everything in moderation, of course!

Pain au Chocolat/Chocolatine (France)

And lastly, we’ll finish with something sweet. Commonly known in English as the “Chocolate Croissant,” this pastry with two names is a flaky, rich dessert that, when done right, will transport you into French heaven. Just be careful what you call it: south-eastern France likes their chocolatine name very much and will tolerate no less! These popular foods from around the world will leave you wanting more.
