Friends has taken over as one of the most beloved shows of all-time, and even though it aired 25 years ago, twenty somethings are just now starting to resonate with a show that was born around the same time as themselves. Other than the fact that we all want such a close nit group of Friends like they have, we watch it for so many other reasons. One of those being, the fashion. 90’s Fashion is making a huge comeback so these iconic outfits from Friends are our guide to rocking that trend.
This is something you can easily see anyone wearing today, its an effortless casual look that pairs a tight fitting, curve hugging tank with a loose ripped mom jean. It’s simple but so chic and stylish that its arguable Monica’s most iconic look on the show. She proves that everyone looks amazing in a bright red and pairs it with white sneakers (so 90’s) and a nude lip for a more toned down look. Her slicked back hair makes me question why we don’t all wear our hair like that.
Seen on Rachel in a green and Monica in red, these subtle t-shirts made their jeans look just a little bit cuter and brought a new look to graphic tees. Luckily theses can be found at Target or Etsy, for us to copy this causal look. These t-shirts are perfect to throw on for binging your favorite season or for running around the city with your girlfriends. It shows that graphic tee don’t always have to look grubby and that they’re meant to be scene outside of just lounging at home. Either way you wear it, you’ll have an iconic girl power look that will make you thankful for your girls.
Who knew knee high socks and plaid skirts would be cute outside of a school uniform. But if we know one thing, Rachel Green can pull off virtually any look. This look made us all rethink the plaid skirt we hated in middle school and is now a fall staple in all of our wardrobes. She showed us that plaid can be super fashionable and somehow even made those knee high socks work with her heels.
Although we see majority if the characters in overalls throughout the run of the series, this outfit is iconic for several reasons. The firs being the way it’s styled, with sneakers and a striped tee with a blazer. Who would ever think to pair a blazer and denim overalls other than our fashion queen Rachel Green. The other reason this is more iconic than the other overalls is what episode this is, this is when Rachel loves Ross but he’s with Julie and we’re all wondering if they’ll ever get together.
Could this BE any more iconic? These outfits from Friends are the pinnacle of Friends fashion. First it has all three of the girls and it really showcases all of their individual styles. Rachel yet again in a plaid looking as chic as always, Monica in jeans and a button up and Phoebe in a floral skirt and a denim top. They each show off their own styles but they’re all looks any one of us would copy.
I have never been a fan of too much denim for fear or looking too country, but she pulls it off in the most effortless way by tying her top at the bottom to add a more feminine touch to an otherwise bulky top. Although denim on denim was a thing in the 90’s, (Brittany Spears and Justin Timberlake could show you a thing or two about it) as years have gone on we’ve learned that it’s not always the best look. But Monica proves that as long as you style it right, you can have a very chic look with just denim and sneakers.
This may be my all time favorite Rachel Green look, and one I’ve been trying to replicate for years. The sleek form fitting dress with a sheer overlay skirt that’s belted at the waist and a small black heel. Although its predominantly black and darker tones, this is such a chic look. The skirt train flowing behind her takes her little black dress to the next level. An outfit this good speaks for itself, so good it needs two pictures to fully appreciate how amazing this look it.
This look is amazing for several reasons. Although the USA shirt seems to be the main focus of her outfit, its her shorts and tights combo that sets this outfit apart. A combo we’ve all tried to replicate but just don’t seem to have that Rachel Green style to pull it off. Pairing it with a simple shirt makes her outfit more casual for everyday, but still a chic and practical look. Keeping you warmer than just shorts but more mobile than a skirt.
This is basically the most iconic Rachel Green look, she lived in these and a skater skirt in the first two seasons. Barista Rachel knew how to bring fashion to little Central Perk, these along with her apron made us wonder if we too needed an apron to look that fashionable. This is the easiest look to copy so on Halloween we see many barista Rachel Greens, but can we really have too many Rachel Greens? Never.
This scene is both iconic and hilarious, and onto of that, each character shows casual wear can also be fashionable. Phoebe while tying to facilitate an argument between Monica and Rachel, looks very 90’s in her turtleneck and layered dress. Rachel in her flowey pants and tiny teeshirt, and Monica in her jeans and sweater. They each showcase their own styles and personalities all while giving us one of the funniest scenes in the series.
