Although we are in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, there are many people, including celebrities, out there who are pregnant or have given birth during these dark times, especially with recent spikes in COVID-19 cases and deaths due to the holidays season. As of December 29, 2020 (the day that this article was written), there are currently 82,109,927 COVID-19 cases and 1,791,019 COVID-19 deaths worldwide.
The prospect of being pregnant and giving birth in ordinary times seems a bit like a walk in the park, a socially-distanced one of course.
Please be aware that all of the female celebrities who have given birth that are featured in this article are first-time mothers or their recent newborn isn’t their oldest/first child. Although welcoming a newborn child during the coronavirus pandemic might be complicated and scary, some celebrities are also documenting their experiences on what it’s like giving birth in the middle of these complicated times. Other celebrities have also praised the doctors and nurses who helped welcomed their newborns too.
Now, with all of that being said, listed down below are 10 More Female Celebrities Who Gave Birth During The Coronavirus Pandemic:
It was recently reported on Dec. 28 by various media outlets that Actress Constance Wu and her partner, musician Ryan Kattner, welcomed their first child (a daughter), over the summer. The Crazy Rich Asians star, who is one of the most notoriously private celebrities when it comes to his/her personal life, didn’t even announce her pregnancy. She even labeled her Instagram and Twitter pages “defunct” (Wu last posted on Instagram in May and on Twitter in 2019).
As I stated previously in my article “10 More Major News Stories Not Related To The Coronavirus That You Probably Didn’t Hear About” (published on June 11, 2020), TMZ broke the news on April 29 that Supermodel Gigi Hadid and Singer Zayn Malik are expecting their first child together. Hadid confirmed the news the next day on The Tonight Show.
In late September, the couple welcomed their daughter and shared multiple photos of their newborn since. However, in all of the photos that they have posted, the couple have either cropped out or shielded their baby girl’s (Hadid and Malik have yet to reveal publicly the name of their daughter) face from the camera, a rule that both set and followed in the interest of protecting their daughter’s privacy.
On August 26, 2020, the singer welcomed her first child with Orlando Bloom, a daughter named Daisy Dove Bloom. The newborn’s arrival came two days prior to the distribution of Perry’s sixth studio album Smile. Daisy is Bloom’s second child as he shares Flynn, his nine-year-old son, with ex-wife supermodel Miranda Kerr.
The actress and her fiancee, Actor Joaquin Phoenix (Mara and Phoenix are one of the most private celebrity couples) reportedly welcomed their first child, a son named River, in late September 2020. The celebrities named their son after Phoenix’s older brother, the late River Phoenix, who died of combined drug intoxication on Halloween 1993.
Although they have yet to publicly comment on their newborn son, Russian filmmaker Victor Kossakovsky broke the news while explaining why Phoenix was not at the Zurich Film Festival to promote a movie he executive-produced. “He just got a baby, by the way, his name was…a beautiful son called River, so he cannot promote it now,” Kossakovsky said.
On September 28, The View co-host and the daughter of the late US Senator John McCain gave birth to her first child, a daughter named Liberty Sage McCain Domenech.
In a tweet, McCain stated, “Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all the wonderful well wishes and overwhelming kindness. Ben [McCain’s husband is conservative writer and commentator Ben Domenech] and I are completely and utterly in love with our daughter and feeling indescribably blessed/blissed out.” The birth of her daughter comes a little over a year after McCain announced in a New York Times Opinion piece (published on July 19, 2019) that she suffered a miscarriage earlier in the year (2019).
On November 6, the Pretty Little Liars star and her husband Hudson Sheaffer welcomed their first child, a son named Hendrix Wade Sheaffer. Pieterse announced her son’s birth a week later in an Instagram post (see below), captioning the photo, “One week ago today our lives changed forever. After 27 hours of labor Hendrix Wade Sheaffer made his grand entrance on November 6th at 5:39am weighing in at 7lbs 14oz and 20.5 inches tall. We are absolutely in love with him and we still can’t believe he’s ours.”
Out of all of the celebrities featured on this list, many of you probably don’t know who
In a September 30 Instagram post, Parrish announced that she and her husband Kevin Hart welcomed their second child together, a baby girl named Kaori Mai Hart. Parrish and Hart are also the parents of a two-year-old son named Kenzo. Hart also has two children from a previous marriage: Heaven (a girl) and Hendrix (a boy).
Another one of the celebrities who have gave birth not only during the coronavirus pandemic, but the holidays season as well is Brittany Bell. On Dec. 28th, the model and her partner, rapper and TV Host Nick Cannon, announced that their baby girl, who they named Powerful Queen Cannon, arrived just in time for Christmas.
Powerful Queen is the couple’s second child together. Their first, a boy named Golden “Sagon” Cannon, was born on February 21, 2017. This is Cannon’s fourth child as he’s also the father of twins Monroe (a girl) and Morocco (a son) with ex-wife Mariah Carey.
Out of all of the celebrities featured in this article, the most recent one to have given birth to a newborn baby during the coronavirus pandemic is actress Emma Roberts. Multiple media outlets have recently reported, that the actress and her boyfriend, actor Garrett Hedlund, welcomed their son, who they named Rhodes, on December 27. The newborn, according to US Weekly, weighed nine pounds and is the first child for both actors.
