Need a meal but have no time? Or maybe you live in a dorm and are living with a fridge and microwave? Well no worries, we’ve got you covered! Here are meal recipes for every time of day that only requires a mug, a microwave and ingredients you can easily get at your dining hall or local grocery store.
Spray your mug with cooking spray and add the eggs and milk. Then beat everything with a spoon until blended. Put in a microwave on high for 45 seconds and stir. Microwave again until eggs are almost set, 30 to 45 seconds longer. Then throw whatever you want to the top: cheese, salt, pepper, and herbs. Recipe/picture from here.
Mix oatmeal mix, flax, an egg and the milk in a mug and then stir it well with a fork. Add banana, cinnamon, apple and honey and then stir again until fully mixed. Cook in a microwave on high for 2-3 minutes. Fluff with a fork and stir one more time in a little milk or yogurt or nut-butter you’re up for it. Recipe/picture from here.
Layer half the bread cubes in a mug and top with 1/2 of the banana slices. Then layer with the remaining bread cubes and top it of with the rest of the banana. Mix the egg, almond milk, applesauce, cinnamon and vanilla together and pour it over the top of bananas and bread. Microwave the meal for 2 minutes on high and then throw some syrup on it! Mix the egg and milk together with a fork in a mug, adding salt and pepper if you choose to. Then tear bread into dime-size pieces and stir it in. Add cream cheese and stir that in. Then tear or cut prosciutto into small pieces and add it to the mug. Sprinkle with the thyme and microwave on high for about 1 minute and 10 seconds. Add mustard and fresh thyme or chives if you’d like. Recipe/picture from here.
Mix the pasta and water in a mug and microwave on high for two minutes, and then stir. The water may overflow, but that’s OK it it happens. Repeat this first step for at least 2 to 4 more minutes, stirring at each 2-minute interval. The water should absorb completely and the pasta will be cooked through. If the pasta needs another minute, just add one more teaspoon of water and microwave for another minute. Then remove it from the microwave and stir in the milk and cheese. Microwave for another minute and lastly stir the cheese thoroughly into the pasta! Recipe/picture from here.
Mix the milk, ketchup, oats and soup mix in a separate mug and then crumble the beef over the mixture and mix really well. Then pat it all into the other mug and cover it and microwave on high for 3 minutes or until meat is no longer pink (use a thermometer to make sure the meat is safe and reads 160°). Let it all drain and stand for 3 minutes. Serve with additional ketchup if you want! Recipe/picture from here.
Beat the egg and milk with a fork in your mug, add salt and pepper if desired. Then add cheddar and stir. Then break 3 or 4 tortilla chips into small pieces to fit in the cup and stir all of that into the mixture. Add salsa and microwave on high for about 1 minute and 10 seconds. Decorate with remaining tortilla chips, sour cream, queso fresco and green onion for best results. Recipe/picture from here.
Melt the butter in a separate dish and then add the peanut butter and mix it all really well. In the mug, mix together the vanilla, egg, and sugar until well combined and then combine the flour, cocoa, salt, and baking powder and add all of that to the mug. Then pour into the mug the peanut butter/butter mixture and mix really well. Then stir in the chocolate chips and put it in the microwave for 1-2 minutes. Recipe/picture from here.
Put all of the ingredients in a large mug and mix it really well with a fork until smooth. Microwave on high for 1.5 – 3 minutes (depending on microwave) and then add heavy cream to the mug and whip on until almost stiff. Then add the sugar and mix again until heavy cream forms stiff peaks. Lastly, top it all off with whipped cream and a little chocolate sauce! Recipe/picture from here.
Mix the sugar, sour cream, cream cheese, lemon juice and egg in the mug and add whatever you want (if you want a plain cheesecake, don’t add anything). Then microwave on high for 1 minute and open the microwave for 20 seconds, then close and microwave again for 45 seconds (if you added anything, you might need additional 20 seconds). Then take your mug out of the microwave and let it cool for 10 minutes. Then you’ll need to transfer it to the fridge for about 2 hours. It’s best if you serve it with a crushed vanilla wafer on top or take it out of the mug and put the wafers or crushed wafers on the bottom. Recipe from here. Picture from here.
