15 Men’s Fall Fashion Trends For 2020

Fashion trends come and go so quickly, it can be difficult to decide which ones to try and which ones to let fade away. Sometimes it is hard to think about trends for seasons that are months from now! If you take the time to do your research now, you can either hop on board with some of these trends at your price point or be forced to sit out on something you really want to try.

Here are some upcoming men’s fall fashion trends for this fall!

1. Reds

Multiple fashion brands had models walk across the runway wearing monochromatic red outfits. From their shirts to their shoes, these models were decked out in various shades of red. This color has always been bold and eye-catching so no matter how much or little you wear of this color, you will be sure to draw other’s attention!

2. Double Denim

This trend has been making a comeback for some time now but fall of 2020 is this trend’s time to shine! While some choose to go for shades that give a more monochromatic appearance, others like to vary their textures, washes and, colors. Even wearing a black jean jacket or shirt with your jeans of choice can be a simple and effective way to visually break up the usual monochromatic look for something unique and different.

3. Plaid

While plaid flannel button-downs have been popular for some time now, plaid is making its way onto men’s outerwear and pants. If you want to hop on this trend, you can keep it simple with a bold matching plaid jacket and slacks. For an equally on-trend look, you can pair a plaid jacket with solid colored slacks or jeans. Plaid pants are a great option if you are feeling bold!

If you are looking at buying one, go with a color that you actually like and rock it.

While faux fur might not be for everyone, it has established its place in this year’s men’s fall fashion trends. Maybe brightly colored fur is not your personal taste but if you are curious and want to try this trend out for yourself, you could purchase outerwear with faux fur detailing. Even a neutral-colored faux fur jacket like a black, brown, or light tan is a less dramatic way to give this trend a try for yourself!

Black leather is back and stronger than ever in the fashion world. It is time to break out that jacket you have been stashing in the back of your closet, clean it up, and wear it over your favorite shirt for an on-trend, grungy look. If you are feeling particularly bold, you can go for an all-leather look and be on top of the trend for this fall!

Clothing texture is one of the most important elements and trends of men’s fall fashion for this year! 13. Functional Outerwear

While cargo shorts will not make an appearance on the fashion trends list any time soon, practical jackets, vests, and pants have crept their way up on the list for this fall. Maybe you bought a jacket for a fishing trip or because you liked the color but were unsure how you felt about it outside its original intended purpose. Now is the time to wear those clothing items with extra pockets, straps, and compartments!

14. Fisherman Beanies

Love them or hate them, fisherman beanies are here to stay! Over the years, beanies have been a strong fashion trend for both men and women. The sizes and styles have changed over time but now the trend is to have beanies that fit everyone’s head more snugly.

15. Oversized Tailoring

Comfort seems to be a big trend this upcoming fall. While “properly” tailored clothing is on-trend, so is oversized tailored clothing. There is a fine line between oversized and too baggy but if you can walk that line, you should go for it! No one likes feeling restricted in their clothes, so take advantage of this trend while you can.

Hannah Warren

Hi! My name is Hannah Warren and I just graduated from Mercer University with a B.A. in English. During my time at Mercer, I studied both Creative Writing and Media Studies so I have dabbled in multiple writing genres including fiction, nonfiction, playwriting, and more! Playwrighting and nonfiction are my favorite genres because more people relate to and understand the work when it is raw, genuine, and mentions different problems that most people are familiar with or have experienced first-hand. I have a bad habit of starting projects and not finishing them, but I am proud to say I am drafting a romance novel that I hope to have published one day! Thank you for taking the time to get to know me, and I hope you will continue to read more of my little articles in the future!
