10 Mantras to Calm Your Coronavirus Anxiety

In these trying times, there has been an increase of anxiety both for people with chronic anxiety and with those reacting to our current situation. With quarantines, shortages and uncertainty, it is 100% understandable if you are feeling anxious. While there are many things you can do to quell your worries, it is a great idea to try and stop your anxiety from getting any worse before it gets the best of you. One of the best ways to stop anxiety is to use a mantra. A mantra is a word or more often a phrase repeated to bring on a sense of calm. Whether you need a serious mantra to stop your anxiety in its tracks or one that will give you a laugh to forget your worries, try using these 10 mantras to calm your Coronavirus anxiety.

This Too Shall Pass

Starting with a simple classic phrase, this literally will be a reminder that this isn’t forever. By using this too shall pass as your mantra, it will calm and remind you that no matter how bad things get, eventually the situation will change and life will get better. It is easy to feel fine and calm when things are great in our lives, but anxiety can creep in when things start to go wrong and that is when this mantra will come in handy. Repeat it while you take deep breaths saying the phrase as you breathe in and repeating it when you breathe out.

Put On Your Positive Pants

Whenever I start to feel down or overwhelmed and negative thoughts start circling in my head, I say this to myself in my mirror and can’t help but laugh a little bit and feel better. Remember that making a negative situation more negative doesn’t help anyone so put on your positive pants and cheer up! Place a sticky note with the phrase on your mirror to remind yourself to stay positive throughout the day. Bonus points if you do a little put-your-positive-pants-dance while you repeat this mantra!

I Am Breathing In, I Am Breathing Out

This one is a great mantra for anxiety because it is simple and just by breathing in and out you can remember the phrase and really concentrate on the act of taking deep breaths. If the anxiety is getting severe, try laying down on your bed or floor and take big, deep belly breaths while repeating the phrase in unison with your breathing. I use this mantra while doing yoga or while meditating because it is simple and easy to repeat.

Chuck It In A Bucket And Move On

Technically this phrase is “chuck it in the f*ck it bucket” but that is a little harsh for a calming mantra. While repeating this mantra, imagine taking your anxiety or worries and throwing them into a bucket and then leaving them. By picturing leaving your worries behind you, you can move on to focus on more positive things like everything getting back to normal. If you are in quarantine and are running out of things to do, feel free to write your anxieties down on sheets of paper and literally toss them in a bucket!

Worrying Is A Waste Of My Energy And Time

Every once and a while, I just need to take a step back and recognize the fact that worrying about things I can’t change or do something about doesn’t serve me. Whenever you start feeling overwhelmed with anxiety, just repeat this mantra to remember that you have better things to do than worry.

Why Be Moody When You Can Shake Your Booty

Here’s another mantra that will make you smile while you say it to yourself. Just like with the positive pants mantra, put this one on a sticky note and put it somewhere that you can see it all the time. Whenever I start feeling bummed, I say this to myself while giving a little wiggle and in no time, I am feeling less anxious.

I Am Healthy, Happy And Hopeful

Since a lot of anxiety right now is surrounding being sick with COVID-19, it is important to remember what you have to be thankful for in your life. Express your thankfulness and welcome a positive future by repeating that you are healthy, happy and hopeful and you will start to feel that way.

Toss Your Hair Into A Bun, Drink Some Coffee And Handle It

This one is for all you boss ladies! Since we are all quarantined and working from home, (or stuck with family or being at home with kiddos) this is a great reminder. When you start feeling overwhelmed, say this to yourself then do it!

It Is What It Is

If you’re on Tik Tok, you’ve probably seen your fair share of “it izzz what it izzz” videos at this point but this is also a serious mantra that you can repeat to yourself to remember that you don’t have control over the situation and that’s okay. This is another great mantra to repeat while you meditate or do some deep breathing.

Nothing Lasts Forever. Not The Good And Not The Bad

Just like with all things, this situation we are all in is temporary. It’s important to recognize this and remind yourself so you can remain in a positive mindset. Just like when things are going good in your life, the tides can quickly change and learning to accept that will help with your life moving forward beyond the coronavirus situation.

Bonus: My Anxiety’s Chronic, But My Ass Is Iconic

No matter if you have been diagnosed with anxiety (hi) or if you are experiencing a bout of anxiety due to our current situation, this phrase will help you through these times. I HIGHLY recommend sticking this on a sticky note right by your bedside table so when you wake up first thing, you can see this and laugh and start your morning on a happier note than usual.
