10 Makeup Trends That Everyone’s Been Trying

Makeup trends are the only thing that has been lifting my mood through all of the 2020 chaos. It is the best time to play around with makeup more than ever and just go all-in on your looks. So, I’ve rounded up the biggest, hottest, makeup trends of 2020 worth trying out. Be ready to screenshot and save these looks to your camera roll!

1. Animal Print Eyeshadow

Animal print eyeshadow has been popping up all over my Instagram! It is a little challenging if you are a beginner in makeup, so you may need to give yourself extra time to polish the look. It took me a long time to perfect it, and I am still not quite there yet. However, it is such an artistic and funky look that takes makeup to the next level, so it is hard not to give it a shot!

2. Floating Eyeliner

Floating eyeliner uses negative space to produce a defined, curled look. It is the new makeup trend taking over various platforms like TikTok, Youtube, and even Instagram.

If the eye base is kept neutral and a bright colored liner is then used in the crease, that will create a fierce look. A basic, sharp, black line will also perform the same result! You can play around with this makeup trend based on your preferences. If you don’t want to get too wild, the inner corners can be built to look like a floating liner.

3. Glass Skin

If I had to name one makeup trend that took over the internet right off the bat, it would be the glass skin trend. Deriving from Korean, or “k-beauty,” this trend has gone global, and we live for it. Who doesn’t love skin that is healthy-looking? This transparent look of glass skin does just that.

The image of a crystal clear piece of glass is supposed to be evoked by glass skin, meaning it is all about skin that looks completely clear. Quarantine has brought out our confident, beautiful, and natural looks that you can embrace with this glass skin effect.

4. Feathered Brows

A natural hair appearance that does NOT have any kind of semi-permanent product? (In simpler terms, no microblading or stencils? Sign me up!) Thee feathered brow trend is one of my favorites, and I can’t get enough. It does not require much effort and can seamlessly brighten your look.

A pro tip: You can also perform this makeup trend by adding it to your skincare routine. It will enhance your face and make you feel groomed.

5. Accent Inner Corners

A little touch of color goes a long way when bringing a sparkle to your inner corners. In the tear duct of your eyes, applying color is just enough contrast to make your makeup glow. This inner corner trend has been around for many years, and it really brightens up the eyes. Putting even the smallest amount can really make you look alive, especially on those days where the eye bags won’t budge.

Putting some bright colors is also fun and can be matched with whatever outfit you may be wearing. Have some fun with this one!

6. Natural Nude

Who doesn’t love a classic nude? This makeup trend is something I believe will always be alive in the makeup world be because of its simplicity and elegance. It is a Kardashian favorite and will give you a natural look you want.

This is one of my go-to looks on the daily. Nude lipstick can give you a bold but still subtle vibe and is perfect to combine with any kind of clothing. If you’re not into too many bright pops of color, this one is the look for you!

7. Lower-Lash Liner

Rather than making your top lash line get all the fun, spice things up and try this hot makeup trend. To do this, simply line the lower lashes with the same color on top or use a lighter shade for some contrast.

Trust me, the effect that this has on the eyes is surreal. It adds intensity, brightness, CONFIDENCE, and so much more to your look. I would say this has to be in my favorites of all the makeup trends I have tried.

8. The Classic Red

If there is a universal beauty look, it is the red lip. Another one of the classic makeup trends that will forever be in the hall of fame, this bold, red pop of color is enough to make a statement across the room. The thing I love about a red lip is the endless amounts of shades for every skin tone and every event.

Unlike nude, the red lipsticks have an incredible ability to take whatever look done for any event to the next level.

9. Illuminated Glow

One of the most crucial steps in your makeup routine is the highlight at the end. Who wouldn’t want some glow? A popular makeup trend I have seen over and over again is the “illuminated glow.” Use a light shimmering spray, a highlight powder, or a highlighting stick to add some shining effects to your look that will make heads turn. This makeup trend has stuck around for a few years and won’t be leaving any time soon.

10. Neon

If you are like me, you will understand the struggles of not being able to pick a color for the eyes, the lip, or even blush. To ease our indecisiveness hassle, try a neon rainbow or simply add a pop of your favorite greens or yellows to the eyes or any area you choose. There are many ways of crushing an iconic look, whether it is a splash of electric eyeliner or neon lipstick. The neon makeup trends had their small debut in the 90s, and it is back for some spotlight time!
