Whether you’re a makeup junkie or not so much, we can all agree that applying makeup can be a very time consuming part of your beauty routine. This is why I combined a list of my top Makeup Tips For When You’re In A Rush!
Putting on makeup sometimes isn’t the most ideal for when you’re on the go, especially in the morning when you don’t want to go makeup free, but want a little something instead of a bare face. As a makeup fanatic myself, I’ve found that during those early mornings before class or work when I just have woken up I never am really in the mood to put on a full face. I love doing glam makeup, but sometimes you just don’t have the time or energy, which is why sticking to simple makeup tips can really change the game. No matter which part of the face you’re looking to accentuate that day, there is definitely a makeup tip designed for you that will make your life 10 times easier!
One of the most time consuming parts of any makeup routine can be applying foundation. Whether it’s a liquid or stick foundation, blending it in can take up more time than you’d like, especially when you’re looking to even out your skin tone and look fresh and awake when you are running late. This is why I have opted out from foundation application and replaced this process with a creamy concealer instead. It may sound simple to just apply concealer instead of foundation, however you must use a product that will get the job done the best.
Before any makeup application a smooth, clean base is always a must for the best results, but this is most important before applying concealer straight to the skin without foundation underneath. You will want to heavily moisturizer your skin, then add a creamy face primer if you’d like. When you don’t have a dewy base your concealer can easily crease and stick to the dry points of your skin, such as the sides of your nose or on any wrinkle line. You’ll want to use a creamy liquid concealer, not one that comes in a pot or stick form. Also, be sure to not apply the concealer to your entire face, but instead in the inner corners of your eyes, drawn out from your lower lash line, on the nose, chin, and over any blemishes. You want a concealer that matches your natural skin tone best as you can instead of the usual concealer you get in a couple shades lighter for highlighting on top of foundation. I recommend using a stiffer brush, but a wet beauty blender will also get the job done.
If you have little to no time to apply makeup but want something to give your face some life, I recommend filling in your brows first. Making your brows appear fuller or darker can be a game changer when it comes to makeup, and really takes no time at all. There are so many different brow products out there, but my favorite to use when I’m in a rush is a retractable micro brow pencil that you can find from both high end brands or any drugstore brand. Some of my favorites I have used are from Morphe, e.l.f., and Anastasia Beverly Hills. I find these retractable pencils to work so much better than pencils you have to sharpen since those always ten to break and leave you searching for a pencil sharpener, adding more time to your routine. A few strokes of this pencil and you’ll be good to go! Feel free to set the brows with a clear brow gel afterwords, for a hold that’ll last all day long.
Who doesn’t love a snatched wing eyeliner to add before applying mascara? Black winged liner can really transform your eyes and make them stand out, giving your a sexy and sultry look during the day or nighttime. The only problem with this is how tedious it can be to get that perfectly straight wing, especially when you’re in a rush. I have been doing the wing liner look for as long as I can remember, slowly perfecting it over the years, yet I still struggle to make it perfect when I am doing my makeup in a rush. This is why I have started following one of my favorite makeup tips ever, which is to use a dark eyeshadow as your wing instead of a liquid liner. All you have to do is use an angled brow brush, and you’ll be able to get the look instantly. The best thing about this look is it never has to be perfect because you can just smudge it out for an stunning eye look that’ll draw you lots of attention.
Highlighting your face is a key step to brightening up the skin and making you look awake and refreshed in the morning. This is why I started to use the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil All-In-One Eyeshadow Eyeliner Pencil as one of my makeup tips, so I could stick to using just one product when I am in a hurry. This product has gained so much love on social media because of its incredible formula and how easy it is to blend. I originally just used this product in the inner corners of my eyes, yet it is so much more versatile and can be used all over the face.
I now find myself applying this product on my lower waterline to make my eyes appear bigger, in the center of my nose and bridge for a defined look, under my brows, and on my cupids bow for a larger upper lip look. This product is called a pencil, however it is more like a creamy eyeshadow pen. I recommended purchasing the shade Milk, which is a matte white, or Cottage Cheese which has some more shimmer in it, all depending on what kind of look you’re going for!
